How many games does a player have in order to run out of elgibility for Rookie Of The Year?

I do not think he will win it this year, but if next year he is hitting like its 2005, he will surely win it.

After remembering that Scott Rolen won the ROY the year after just barely not qualifying, I'd say eligibity is about 130 ABs. In other words, I doubt Murton gets the ABs (or the chance to up his numbers) this year to qualify. Edited by Electron Blue

I've always assumed it's the same eligibility to top a leaderboard. Something like games x 3

I'm not really sure at all, but my guess is a third of a season, like 54 games.

Joe Mauer (first pick of the 2001 draft, before Mark Prior) ran out of his elgibility last year, and he only played 35 games.

130 at bats for a position player

50 innings for a pitcher

You forgot 1 more part

For hitters, a player will be considered a rookie if he had less than 130 at-bats in any previous season. For pitchers, if they haven't pitched more than 50 innings in a previous season, they are considered rookies. Also, if any player spent more than 45 days on a team's active roster, they cannot be considered a rookie.

Murton is already at 30 days on the active roster, so unless he's sent back down, he will not have rookie status for next season.

Well, looks like Felix Pie will win it next season :o (Unless he is called up in September and played often.

Even then he'd be okay, because there's no way he tops 130 ABs in one month. That's probably why they made it such a number. The september callups can come up, work on their game without worrying about such a thing as losing their 'rookie' status.
