this is just showing your hate for zambrano because you're a card fan. at least it seems that way to me.

I don't hate Z. He's just a baby IMO. You're right in that he has been better this year.

obviously you do, because you're bringing up stuff that's way in the past. how is he a baby? what has he done this year to warrant being called that, aside from the umpire incident in arizona?

good im happy what Z did. The lineup tonight was an absolute joke and there's no way this team is coming back down 4 runs. Hopefully an 0-6 record in NY this year will be the beginning of the end of the Dusty Baker era.

Happy? This is the kind of crap a guy gets shipped out of town for... You win and lose as a team. Bush league

Now Dusty's making excuses for Zambrano (now I know he left on his own). "His back is hurting him." BS!!!

Baker was interviewed by ESPN just now in the middle of the game. He looked VERY downtrodden, and disappointed. He also had a negative tone in his voice.

He said Z is out, with stiffness in his back.

Every team has a baby or two.

Good for Carlos. I woulden't play for the Cubs with that outfield behind me.

Not to be cliche, but Z needs to play for the name on the front of the jersey and the guys behind him. So what if he doesn't like Dusty. This is just another in the long line of immature moves by Carlos.

another in the long line? what has he done this year since opening day that was "immature?"

nothing.

I don't think the poster said anything about "this year" as you suggested - this is indeed a long line of immature moves by Carlos and I can't believe the number of you who are apologizing for this only because you hate Baker and want him gone so badly. Heck some of you are even happy he did it and encouraged by it - no baseball fan would ever think that way about one of the members of his team - NO MATTER WHAT THE REASON!

Frustration is one thing - "taking your ball and going home because things don't go your way" is something I did last when I was about 6 years old - and I think I got in trouble for that at the time too!

Dusty is lying. And he really looks like hell.

You would, too, if you had to be around this team every day.

I give Dusty credit for coming to work.

Holly needs to be pulled. He's not even trying out there. He loafed at that ball like it was a pre-game warm up.

Dusty has absolutely lost these guys. He may lose his job over this series.

Actually, Dusty's apologizing for his players has come back to bite him in the arse. Sometimes players have to be accountable.

He's bitter b/c Z shuts down the Cards every chance he gets!

Ron Santo - "I can't see this getting any worse than it is now."

He's been huffing and sighing all game.

I feel bad for the guy. Actually, I feel bad for all Cubs fans. We've had it bad for years now.

It is unthinkable to me that some so called Cub fans would be happy if Zambrano did indeed quit on the team. In the short term it would possibly speed the departure of a manager you don't like, but do you really think anything changes for Zambrano with a new manager? If anything it would embolden him to do it again when things weren't going his way.

Bad defense or no, most of those runs scored as a result of Zambrano giving up hits and/or walks. You don't like the defense, Z? Strike out a few more guys in key situations. Stop your whining and do your job. Seems to me your pitching effort was worse than anyone elses defensive effort.

i think this is the first instance of Baker being called a liar.

I think it was pretty obvious. He averted his eyes, and had no conviction in his voice. Plus I just don't but the "bad back" thing. His back may hurt, but I sincerely doubt that is why Carlos came out.

Hey guys; I just wanted to let you all know I'm having a couple grilled cheese sandwiches right now. They're quite delicious; fix yourself one or two and maybe you'll forget about this abomination of a baseball team for a short time. :D

I'll give Wuertz credit for battling out there.

We might as well clean house though. Bring up Pie and company. These gusy are done. I can't believe I am going to see these bums tomorrow night.

I'd make his butt go right back out there. Zambrano doesn't dictate crap!

That's a Pippen move.

it's most likely they took Z out of the game.

THose were some grueling innings. Sometimes 80 pitches isn't just 80 pitches.

They did not take him out. Did you see him give Rothschild the done sign? Larry looked at him incredulously as Zambrano stompped to the clubhouse! He left on his own and as he was walkig away, Larry went to tell Dusty. BS!!!! I've just lost a lot of respect for Carlos.

you never know. they might have told him they were taking him out.

i'm sure we'll know for sure tomorrow morning.

They didn't tell him that! My goodness, the camera showed him motioning he was done as he was walking into the the dugout. Rothschild went to talk to him for encouragement (as all pitching coaches do) and Carlos said "no" or something to that effect then walked into the clubhouse. You can tell by Larry's face that he was upset with Zambrano. I'm sure they expected him to go at least one more inning if not 2.. The Cubs don't have a day off until the 18th.

Zambrano stomped off. It was very apparent.

innocent until proven guilty.

unless, of course, we're talking about taking sterroids.

Innocent? Ha! I love(d) Z but the camera didn't lie After listening to Dusty come up with a mystery illness/ache for Carlos it only solidifies the issue. I think he meant to say it was his toe and not his "back." Comical.

Z walked out on the team. It was so apparent the terrible ESPN guys caught it.

Maybe carlos did hurt his back and didn't handle the situation very well, but there are a lot bigger problems then that. Case in point 2/3 of our outfield are not major league starters.

He has nothing to be bitter about. The Cards will have two straight division championships after this year. He is telling the truth, sorry if it hurts sometimes.

This'll do it for me this year. I've had enough of this team. I don't care if it's the players, the manager, the front office, the fans or some combination of any of these. I''m as optimistic as anyone, but this is out of control.

I'll talk to you guys when spring training approaches, or occasionally on the minors threads.
