Wouldn't it be nice to see a wholesale change in the middle of an inning with this slumping lineup? Kinda like a line change in hockey...

This offense is so miserable. How does Burnitz have 55 RBI batting behind Lee? He's going to finish the year with less than 80. That's absolutely horrific for a corner outfielder. Thanks a lot Hendry. Did he really think these guys would produce at an elite level? Todd Hollandsworth, Jeromy Burnitz, and Corey Patterson? I bet their rookie cards are worth less than a nickel combined.

You're right. If they only could've landed Beltran. He has 59.

I wonder if Nomar would sign with us if he was signed to play 2b??

I think Cedeno deserves a chance to prove himself. I also think Murton does as well. Only way that happens though is if Dusty isn't with the team next year.

I suspect the ONLY position Nomar moves to is 3rd base, not SS. We saw what happen to Jose Reyes, and Kaz Matsui when both tried to play 2nd---after being consider natural SS---THEY failed measuably. Now while Ryes hasn't exactly been an All Star this yr, he has been more comfortable.

So again, I highly doubt Nomar will be playing 2B for any team in 06. It will be either SS or 3B.

lol.

Burnitz has been TERRIBLE. I pray he isn't brought back next season, his defense is good, his offense is bad.

You'd think batting between two of the "best" hitters in the NL, he'd have a better numbers.

God I'm frustrated.

We all wanted to get Beltran/Drew/Maggs. Well, Maggs got injured, Drew got injured I believe, and Beltran sucks this season.

Burnitz, surprisingly is better than all of them this season.

Add to that his poential lack of mobility/range, and I think you're right on.

The Cubs are losing today.

Technically the Cubs are still not totally out of the wild card, but what makes anyone in their right mind, believe they can turn it around instantly?

They've been playing like total crap for the past 2 weeks.

Only that this club has been streaky all year long. For every bad streak we have seen an equally good one. Frustrating? Heck yeah. But to think that this team is not likely to follow this stretch of poor play with a stretch of good play would be to ignore all of the evidence they have shown you all season long.

And it hasn't been 2 weeks, either. This stretch of poor play has been over the last 8 games. 9 games ago, the Cubs had just finished winning a 3-game series from San Fransisco in dramatic fashion that showed a lot of heart. That series was immediately preceded by a great 3-game series win in St. Louis where they could have easily come out with a sweep.

How soon we forget. :(

Regardless of the outcome the simple fact is neither of these teams is going to come remotely close to the playoffs.

Whereas I agree that you have a lot of very good reasons to have that opinion, it is still just an opinion. To call it a fact, and a simple one at that, is just inaccurate.

Regardless of the outcome its highly probable that neither of these teams is going to come remotely close to the playoffs.

Does that get the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval?

It's a fact.

So basically what you are saying by being contradictory is, " Hey, you, stop balancing out my negativity with reality."

Sorry, no, I won't stop. Feel free to ignore reality if you like. But I won't stop meeting overly-negative, pessimisitic reactions by reminding them of what the reality of the situation is.

Rightly or wrongly, I care about whether Cubs fans believe in their team or not. Thats just me.
