All the papers are say that Walker would be involved, so this is the first time that I heard Wood was involved. I would prefer to hang on to Walker anyway, but according to ESPN radio the Cubs would put Soriano in LF and that would give us 2 second basebman in the OF. I'm not sure I like that idea from a defensive stand up! What do you guys think?

If the Cubs give up Wood, Mitre and Walker for just Soriano I'd be shocked.

How about Teixeira?

No chance, of course, but =P~ .

You can't trade a guy on the DL anyway, can you?

No, I don't tink so. I am pretty sure it has prevented trades in the past.

Hm. I'm pretty sure this is not true. I've been listening to ESPN 1000 and it has not even been speculated that Wood would be involved - nor has it elsewhere to my knowledge. The Cubs aren't trading Wood. ESPN Radio said something along the lines of "who the Cubs would send out has been speculated among guys like Hill or Pie, or Walker or Patterson." I'd think if anyone anywhere thought it'd be Wood, it'd be mentioned elsewhere.

Yeah...but the front page of Fox Sports.com had me scared....Big picture of Kerry with the headline "Trade WOOD Work"

I've been listening to ESPN Radio since 6am [EDT] and, while I'm in the office and I have the volume turned way down, I haven't heard a word about Wood. Mike & Mike talked a LOT about Soriano and the Cubs, and Cowherd has touched on it too, but I haven't heard Wood's name mentioned at all. In fact, I don't recall having heard anybody on ESPN Radio speculate this morning about who would be going to Texas, were Soriano to be headed to Chicago.

That said, I definitely could have missed it and I make NO judgements whatsoever about the validity what Weltazar is saying he heard.

Same here. Haven't heard Wood mentioned at all.

Probably not true, but consider this:

SI had a blurb this week where they compared Wood's stats to Chan Ho Park's at the same point in their respective careers. Nearly identical.

EDIT: Also would note that this is the second time in a week that we are getting excited about a rumor posted by a new member that no one else can confirm regrading a possible major trade...no offense intended, BTW.

Soriano's name has been all over ESPN radio and the local papers. But did you actually hear ESPN radio mention Wood and Mitre by name? If so, fine, but if not, why would you put their names in the title? For shock value? I will say this: I was listening to ESPN radio AM 1000 local updates at 8:20 AM and 8:40 AM CDT - there was zero mention of Wood's name or Mitre's name. Bruce Levine did speculate that Corey Patterson could be part of the deal, and he did say that Texas sources had mentioned Rich Hill's name.

Identical to Chan Ho? I doubt it. On top of that he has one of the worst contracts. There is no way Chan becomes a cub.

What's your take on it, Hoops? Do you see any possibility?

I think Soriano would be great for the right price. Granted, he's not exactly what this team needs, but if Hendry can't get the Perfect solution for the cubs, should he do nothing? It's an upgrade.

I've been for trading Wood for some time now, so it isn't a knee jerk reaction to his injuries, but I would be extremely angry if we traded Wood to get Soriano. Could a mod please edit the title to reflect SOME uncertainty as to if it has even been mentioned.

I think you misunderstood the point of my post:

The stats are very similar, and SI was implying therefore implying that Wood may not be as good as advertised. Its not an implication that their contracts are the same or that we are acquiring Chan Ho-lio.

Again Espn radio mentioned Wood and Mitre strait up for Soriano. Walker was not involved according to them, but still defensively it would make for a very shakey outfiled with hariston already playing in center although I will that hariston has been better than I expected in center!

As you say, no chance for Teixeira. But I have wanted to see him in a Cubs uniform since watching him in AA in Tulsa.

Anyone else here this?

I'm calling BS and saying this thread be locked in order to prevent another fiasco like last week's Dunn thread.

I smell a troll. And my smeller is pretty good.

I will retract everything if there is some independent confirmation.
