Yeah, 12-5 in our last 17 games, we are REALLY choking.

Dude, optimism at this point is moot. The Cubs have BARELY won the games vs St Louis, and Frisco. I mean we have gotten totally lucky.

The Cubs SHOULD have won 6 in a row. They lacked driving in runners in scoring position.

The team as a whole is not doing well, and IS choking. To win the wild card, we need win streaks.

I tip my cap to the Astros, looks like they'll win it again this year.

And to add insult to injury, it's an ex-Cub who does it - funny huh? Gonzalez could have been our everyday LF for how many years now??

Yeah, but then what would we do with Todd Hollandsworth?

This reminds me of our "run" last September before the collapse. We were winning a bunch of games with like 3-4 runs per game or less and everyone that had been watching the team all year knew that the bottom would fall out eventually. And guess what? It did

Bottom line is, they've still been winning lately, and there's no reason to say the Astros will win it right now. We're only 2.5 games out of the WC, only 3 if we lose today.

Our bullpen sucks. (in case you haven't noticed)

But I still think we'll win this game

It certainly does. But when Williamson comes back and if Hendry can get a guy like Affeldt at the deadline, the complexion of the pen could really change.

who in the world are the "American Girls?"

It's a brand of doll. There's a special place for it downtown, where you can have lunch with your doll, and other such nonsense.

And I know this because I have 3 younger sisters, weirdos.

St. Louis had half their line-up on the DL and Pujols did not start game two and we narrowly took 2 of 3.

Can't blame Dusty for losing this one. Absolutely no excuse for this offensive performance. None at all. The continued gutless performance of the hitters in crucial situations is unacceptable. Another complete disgrace to this point.

WRONG. It'd be a 1 run game if Dusty had pulled Ohman. How many times has Dusty made this 2 inning mistake with Ohman this year so far, 10? GET A CLUE MORAN!!

As for our hitting, it's streaky. Having a lineup full of streak hitters like Perez and Hollandsworth is the reason.

Perez

April 68 11 25 2 1 3 12 3 1 7 0 0 .368 .403 .559 .962

May 108 11 28 6 0 2 9 3 1 9 4 0 .259 .283 .370 .654

June 109 13 25 3 0 2 8 2 1 12 0 2 .229 .248 .312 .560

July 89 7 21 5 0 1 11 1 0 7 0 0 .236 .242 .326 .568

Hollandsworth

April 68 3 17 4 1 1 6 7 1 15 0 1 .250 .329 .382 .711

May 36 0 4 1 0 0 3 3 0 11 0 0 .111 .179 .139 .318

June 75 12 27 6 1 2 16 2 0 8 4 2 .360 .372 .547 .918

July 59 6 13 4 0 2 4 6 0 8 0 1 .220 .288 .390 .678

Total 241 21 61 15 2 5 29 18 1 45 4 4 .253 .305 .394 .700

[expletive] unnacceptable from a $90M team in LF. Especially with Murton hitting well in very limited AB.
