you guys think 5 in a row is good? i don't, 5 in a row sucks. Win #6 in a row tomorrow jerks.

I know you're just doing that negative thing..... but these last five games have been pretty impressive to me. We've outscored the opponents 42-12 !! Take a look at these stat lines......

That sucks

Duke is BA's #34 prospect (pre-season).

It doesn't matter what number he is because he will own the Cubs as they suck mighty bad.

Does anyone remember Maddux's numbers in his first start after the break? I seem to recall about 3 CG shutouts and 5 or 6 CGs total.

iirc, he threw 2 complete games in a row - the first was a shutout - and went 8 innings in his 3rd start after the break.

edit: i checked retrosheet.

1st start: 7/17 vs mil (sheets) CG shutout, game time: 2:05

2nd start: 7/22 vs cin (lidle) CG, 2 er (both solo homers), game time: 2:15

3rd start: 7/27 @ mil (sheets) 6ip 1er (solo homer)

Well, it's game day Cubs. Have any of you suckaholics slept off any of your suckitude, or do you still suck like the suckiest sucks that ever sucked in the history of suck?

This Duke kid was pretty good in AAA for Indianapolis, so I'm worried about this game.

Although, not nearly as good as his current ERA so he's due to give up some runs. Still, we need the Good Maddux to show up today.

CUBS IN 5 GAMES

BB=21 SO=27

Head explodes

glad Dusty didn't waste our time putting Hairston and Walker at the top of the order sooner-man that would have been horrible.......

Maddux threw a gem against Pittsburgh the last time they faced each other at Wrigley if i remember right. He should've got the W, but that was the game where Hawkins gave up the homer to Bay in the top of the 9th. :x

That was Sat 23 Apr, and you are quite correct. Maddux also pitched very well against the Pirates the weekend before that, Sun 17 Apr, in Pittsburgh, going 6 innings and giving up 2 earned runs. He left the game with a 2-2 tie, and Wuertz picked up the win in relief when the CUBS scored 2 in the 8th to make the final 4-2.

Maybe if he'd quit throwing gems and start throwing baseballs he'd fare better.

Buh-dum-chit!

Hey look, I get to watch Maddux pitch... again. I swear, I NEVER get to see Prior or Wood pitch.

Hey. Mizzou..... you could do worse !! I mean, think of it this way.... you're not having to watch Leicester, Dempster, Rusch, Mitre, or Koronka start, right ??

Yeah, I've seen such Cubs legends as Jim Bullinger, Jeremi Gonzalez and Anthony Young pitch live! Maddux is a HOF'er!

Ah... the stories I could tell you about Bob Buhl, Larry Jackson, Dick Ellsworth, Cal Koonce, Bill Faul..... oh, never mind. It's not worth the stroll down memory lane.

I can usually get to Wrigley for one game a year and this season I got John Koronka vs. Dontrelle Willis. Doh!

Any reason for the odd start time? When is the last time a non-national TV game has started at 3:05?

Cubs usually play home Saturday games at 3:05 if they are not on FOX.
