Watched the condensed game highlights, man, it would have be frustrating to watch the Cubs flail away in real time as did against Kelly last night.  Kelly' literally got nothing (someone with access to his underlying peripherals can probably back this up) and Busch could not put the ball in play against him, holy horsefeathers that's frustrating.

On the plus side, playing lacrosse last night, I did manage to catch a nice feed right in front of the goal and proceeded to not score. So there's that, shot hit the shaft of the goalie' stick otherwise, might have scored.

As noted during the broadcast by Boog and JD, Kelly was throwing almost a full 2 mph harder than he has all year, so the Cubs weren't seeing the same guy who has the 5+ ERA on the season last night.

Merrill Kelly accusing the Cubs 3B coach of stealing signs and relaying them to the batters. As if that's necessary to hit Kelly this year.

Kelly should stfu. If Berry was where he was supposed to be while coaching third there is no rule that says he can’t steal signs. Maybe try pitching better next time.

Absolutely, that is 100% fair game in that scenario and fully the D-Backs responsibility not to be so stupid in their signals.

But, of course, he was throwing harder vs. the Cubs!  Well, it was more likely the their proximity to the WC, etc.

It must be a league wide conspiracy against Merril Kelly and his signs because Boston tagged him for 6 runs (all earned) in his last start. Kelly had just 2 strikeouts. The daunting Rockies and Guardians lineups, as well, knocked him around for 6 a piece, too. In his last 25 IP he's given up 21 runs, good for a 7.46 ERA and a 7.27 xERA.

Poor guy, everyone must be stealing his precious little signs.

Wonder if he's nearing the end, unlike single malt scotch, I don't believe he's going to improve with age.

In fairness, I think every Cub semi-regular has a higher OPS+ than Kyle Tucker this year.
