Why is Thielbar still being used in late innings?

With all the talent the Cubs just acquired why is Thielbar still being put into games the Cubs hope to win? If they're forced to use him, he should go in as early as possible to give the Cubs more time to make up the runs he will surely give away.

Because he was very good last year, and Craig wanted/hoped he would get better.  The Cubs had 6 runs lead, and it was good time to use him.  Aside from Zeferjahn, we didn't get any bullpen help at the deadline.  When the guys like Palencia and Milner come back, and/or Rea/Assad move to the pen, I think Thielbar will be gone.  My guess is Milner will replace the lefty RP position, unless they still think Thielbar could be good again (if that's the case, Rolison would go back to Iowa, but I doubt it)

Homeruns are noisy and that 29% K-rate is generally a lot more meaningful looking forward than the slew of dongs

Because though reinforcements are coming, they aren't here yet, and he still has to navigate a bunch of games in a row with a pen that includes Thielbar, Thornton, Turd and Civale

I have no idea what prompted me, but I did a search of the term "turd". 54 pages of search history for that term, and the oldest post was in 2004 with Banedon referencing Turd Furgeson. This place always amazes me.

Thielbar is still striking people out but he is just making way too many mistakes with his curveball . Hanging curveballs get hit a long way .

When Thielbar started to warm up in the 7th, I prayed that Assad would get through he inning somehow. He wasn't as sharp as usual last night but Assad did enough to keep Thielbar off the field. Plus, he saved the bullpen for today.
