Soriano is good too. I'd prefer Detmers myself because of the TJS in Jose's profile. but he's a groundball merchant, throws hard, has an 89% whiff percentile...and listen, he's not your long term issue, he has to stay healthy for 2.5 years. Not an impossible ask.

If they want Ayers, maybe get them to throw in Zeferjahn

Even if they don't end up trading Ayers it makes sense for him to not be in the lineup.

If ever the Cubs had a sell-high prospect, it's Ayers, who shot to the moon out of nowhere this year, and if a trade is the best way to maximize that value, then go for it. Vastly prefer that to, for example, letting Alcantara rot in AAA forever.

Something very well may be up. I'm not sure. But those names being out are interesting to note.

If you get one of the Angels guys for a Kepley/Ayers led package I'd feel pretty empowered to go HAM on a reliever/rental starter deal.  Go do Gausman/Hoffman or Peralta/Weaver after.

With that said I think if something is going  on with the Angels , I think it’s Soriano and the Angels found a better package elsewhere for Detmers . Interesting afternoon ahead

Soriano and Detmers are basically the same guy IMO.  Soriano has more health risk Detmers has more performance risk.

We do have a thing for pitchers with health risks so I could see them going for Soriano.

Yeah, if the Cubs get an Angels SP for Ayers and Kepley as the leads, the team is in a very, very good position, IMO.

Alcantara, Long, Ballesteros all in Iowa lineup. Owen Ayers officially out of that lineup...
