Carlos needs to seriously stop giving his evil twin playing time. Good to see the real Carlos came out for the 2nd.

Putting Burnitz ahead of Ramirez does split up your right handed hitters. Burnitz over the last month is hitting 0.305 / 0.381 / 0.524 / 0.905. Putting him in the fourth sport is eminently reasonable, i.e. able to be reasoned. Now, you can argue the wisdom or the value of that decision, but to say that there is no reason belies your education and powers of logic.

What does my education care? I just don't want Burnitz hitting cleanup and protecting Lee and don't care much about splitting up the righties. At least not enough to have Burnitz batting 4th instead of 5th.

If you didn't get what you wanted, then say that. Don't tell us there's "no reason" to do it any other way. You're smarter than that.

The bottom line is that Ramirez is the better hitter out of the two. With Lee hitting third, you want the 2nd best hitter on the team hitting 4th. That's Ramirez. Burnitz isn't as valuable to the offense and doesn't require the same protection. And now that you have some OBP in the top of the order, Ramirez hitting 4th statistically gives him more opportunities to hit with men on base.

I haven't been to Wrigley since April, but in many of the recent games - especially the ones in which Corey has excelled for brief flashes - it's seemed that alot of the booing was directed at the ump. Honest to God, it seemed that the post-catch boos against Milwaukee the other night were mainly for the umpire, not Corey, who's had plenty of rotten calls of late.

Fair enough, it's tough to decipher listening on the radio, but I thought it was a fair assumption that they were booing Corey. Corey hasn't been helped by the umps at all recently.

It looks like Carlos is finally letting up on his 2-seamer. Now all he needs is a little more control.

True, and it's likely that Corey isn't making much of a distinction either. The dude looked like he was ready to break down in the dugout yesterday.

If Carlos can keep that slider for deeper counts instead of using it to get ahead of batters, it's going to be more effective.

And 3 HRs in 3 innings isn't too good, Mulder.

Based on what I've read about Corey's personality (I think Corey and I share some personality traits), he's much better equipped to handle the booing than, say, LaTroy, Hundley or Sammy. But there's going to be a point when even he can't handle it.
