I'd also like to say that I have no idea why Dusty is benching Corey for a couple of days after several games of looking much better at the plate. I love the logic.

Completely idiotic. This is the second time Corey has shown strides of improvement and Dusty has sat him.

Not sure if I could agree with either of you that Corey had been improving. No matter how he looked at the plate in the last five games he was still 2 for 20 with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Len just said Patterson is gonna get the next couple days off... I hope Hairston can take advantage of this opportunity.

Yeah, but "booing is terrible"??? What's that supposed to mean? Booing is booing.

That's like saying Mt. Everest is terrible. No it's not. It just exists. Booing isn't terrible. It's just what fans do.

Unless we're saying the booing is *causing* Patterson to stink. In which case he's got bigger problems than the fans anyway.

What fans do? I'd like to hear how booing a player for taking what should be ball 4 is what good fans do.

It's what some fans do when they perceive a player isn't giving 100%. They paid their cash for seats, they're entitled to boo any time they want. Maybe some fans are booing stupidly. But that's not what you said. You said "booing is terrible." That's not selective. That's painting with a broad brush.

I'd like to hear how you come to the conclusion that all booing is terrible.

But they're booing Corey's performance, not that he's not trying 100%. Because it would be even more stupid if they were booing him for that, since he's one of the hardest workers on the team. I have no problem booing someone who's not trying.

I think we should probably drop the subject since the game started, but I want the irony noted that a guy with Stephen A. Smith as his avatar doesn't like booing. :)

LOL. Alright--the subject is dropped. I need to get some stuff done anyway :)

Go Cubs.

I am sure it is just a way to get macias on the field, was that just a lead off hit, i dont remember the last time we saw one of those.

I haven't been to Wrigley since April, but in many of the recent games - especially the ones in which Corey has excelled for brief flashes - it's seemed that alot of the booing was directed at the ump. Honest to God, it seemed that the post-catch boos against Milwaukee the other night were mainly for the umpire, not Corey, who's had plenty of rotten calls of late.

Putting Burnitz ahead of Ramirez does split up your right handed hitters. Burnitz over the last month is hitting 0.305 / 0.381 / 0.524 / 0.905. Putting him in the fourth sport is eminently reasonable, i.e. able to be reasoned. Now, you can argue the wisdom or the value of that decision, but to say that there is no reason belies your education and powers of logic.

What does my education care? I just don't want Burnitz hitting cleanup and protecting Lee and don't care much about splitting up the righties. At least not enough to have Burnitz batting 4th instead of 5th.

If you didn't get what you wanted, then say that. Don't tell us there's "no reason" to do it any other way. You're smarter than that.

If fans are going to boo, they at least should know something about statistics. The same people that boo CPatt are the same people buying Neifi Perez rookie cards.

Ugh, 1-0

OK. Then let's give everyone a current events test as they come through the turnstyles at Wrigley. You don't know the latest stats? Out-ski!!!

Some fans are stupid. So what. You wanna be successful in the big leagues? Learn to overcome it. That's the whole point here. We're covering for CPatt's fragile psyche (it seems). If it needs covering (which I'm not sure of yet), then maybe he's not our guy.

I just do not understand the logic. When you are at home you shouldn't get treated like it is an away game. Maybe the issue isn't the players but the "fans"

I have thought the fans seem like rear ends on this issue, why do we feal like we are entitled to anything? we are coming out of this looking like Phillie and Yankee fans.

I could care less about entitled. It's quite counter-productive and if it does anything, it hurts the team's chances to win.

And please. I'd like to hear how you jumped from "booing is terrible" to "all booing is terrible." Is it not possible that it could also mean booing is terrible on average? But then again, that doesn't really concern me.
