Same term 3m less…, yeah, obviously

I mentioned the obvious since there seems to be a group of NHL fans who are impressed with Bedard's contract.

I think there is a chance that waiting to lock up Carlsson led to the offer sheet and because they had to match the offer sheet, it could potentially cost them Gauthier.

Welp, Kane is a Blackhawk again. With a mind boggling $8m cap hit. That is incredibly insane. He makes the team marginally better, and helps their biggest need (guys who can score goals) but he’s basically a PP specialist and a huge defensive liability. He’s coming off a $3m salary.

It’s a significant overpay in a position of need, but they still have $5 million in cap space left

The closest Davidson has come to getting value are the Nazar and Vlasic contracts, which are middle 6 and second paring D caliber players at their best. If/when this team ever gets close to contention it will be fascinating to see what kind of gross overpay Davidson will spend on a difference maker. Other GMs will see what he gave up for Byram and agents will see what he spent on him, Kane and all the other “we’ll pay you extra to come here and eat ice time for a losing team” free agents they’ve acquired along the way.

they better hope the rest of their top 6 and top 4 D are already in the organization but when it comes time to pay them will there be room?

I bought a knockoff Kane jersey back in like 2011. Which was still like $100, which was a lot of money back then for me, and I realized after I bought it that I had no earthly idea how to wash a jersey like that. The concept of dry cleaning was reserved for the one time a year I needed to wear a suit. And so that thing just accumulated beer and mustard stains for like 6 years until my now wife finally made me take it somewhere. A lot of it was permanent, but now it's almost part of the appeal.

It's a dumb signing, probably, but I'm past the point in my Hawks fandom where I'm going to worry about crunching numbers. We get to watch him in a Hawks sweater for another couple years. Pretty cool.

Different topic but in 2003 I bought a Prior jersey for like $150, a lot of money for me as well. I bought it on a game day and sat in the bleachers. Drunk dude spilled a Budweiser on it and me after the game ate a burrito from some delicious place just south of Sluggers and the hot sauce spilled all over it and stained it lol. Still wore it for a few years after

Kane isn’t a Hawks legend?

Eat bread may not make it to training camp, let alone a regular season game or any shift with Kane. Even with Bedard out he’s the most likely odd man out among the forward group.

if he does play minutes with Kane somebody else got hurt and/or sent down to Rockford
