Id say that normally a strong running game makes the difference in a sloppy game, but since the Saints and Bears are nearly equal in that, it may not be.

I wonder if this isnt the game we see 100 yards from one of our TE's

Sure would be nice to see Loveland have a first round pick level game. Thought it was going to happen last week, but after the "push off" he went silent for the most part. Looking like maybe no DJ this week, so Burden is likely the next man up to spread the field with Odunze and Zaccheus.

Flacco is also like 57 years old

He's one hard hit away from retirement

I’m sure Sweat will be all over him all game, amirite?

I'm excited for Elmer (Moody), more than anything because it could mean a new, competent kicking game. At the very least, he seems capable of what Santos already does.

The one thing Santos does is accuracy and Moody does not do that*

*yet. Maybe he can improve

santos is accurate? never would have guessed

Every story about him talks about how he is the most accurate kicker in Bears history but he doesn’t have the leg strength to attempt the longest kicks.

I felt like Santos was very dependable on anything closer than 50 yards. After that he wasn’t dependable at all. Moody has a bigger leg but has historically been wobbly.

we’ll see. Hopefully we don’t depend too much on the kicking game

Yep. The big red flag on Santos has been distance. So many times they would opt to punt at a distance just about every other team is going for 3. And with the new starting distances, more and more often offenses will stall within field goal range than ever before. While I think it's time to move on from Santos, I'm not so sure Moody is the guy you do that with. His accuracy hasn't been very good in the past.

Shemar Turner got a lot of reps at DE against the Commanders. Anyone know how he was graded out at that position for that game? They are getting Booker back on Sunday, also. Tanoh Kpassagnon was removed from the roster to make room for Booker.

It would be nice to see more production from the 2025 draft in this one.

Santos is not only under contract, but he's way more accurate than Jake Moody. Moody missed 10 field goals last year, and Santos has only missed 14 in his 6 seasons in Chicago. Moody has already missed 3 this year in only 2 NFL games. I just don't get why this is even being talked about. I like that Moody's foot won the Bears that game last Monday, but let's not be too quick to recognize the accuracy of Santos.

I'm not really a fan of Santos, but the Bears gave him that contract, so he's here. He may not be counted on for anything beyond 55 yards, but he's pretty good when asked to kick from wherever the Bears decide to go for 3.

I don't know if the kickoff had anything to do with the Commanders starting with excellent field position every time, but maybe Cairos is better at that, too?

Santos is extra valuable on a team that struggles to finish drives.

Santos doesn’t miss layups. For a team that’s struggled to finish drives his entire tenure he’s a great roster fit. If this was the Lions then a strong leg would be more useful over his short/medium distance accuracy with less attempts.

and that's...not us...anymore (?)

Bears are bottom half in league for red zone efficiency, the top of that half but still below the mean. They are top ten in field goal attempts made.

they may be trending in right direction and hopefully by next season they are a drive finishing machine but they are not close

All this kicker talk may be moot if conditions today resemble that game vs. the Niners in like ‘05 (I’m seeing wind gusts going up to 35 mph right now)

I honestly hope conditions are decent enough to see Caleb able to pass at all. Would hate for today’s to be a slop mulligan day where neither team can actually play football

The Saints are one of 3 teams the the Bears haven't beaten since the Lovie Smith era (Eagles, Dolphins). They've lost 8 straight vs the Saints.

The wind gusts were 50 mph in that 05 game. I was there and saw the guy in the row in front of me have his hat knocked off his head and blown onto to the field in the nose bleeds.

I think that will end today.
