Scratch a run here and there like the Jays just did, it might still be possible.  Very deflating giving up those 3 though.

“Dodgers maybe guilty of overthinking a bit”.

Joe Davis, John Smoltz and Ken Rosenthal just spent three minutes overthinking the horsefeathers out of the Dodgers getting to a Game 7 lol.

I’d love to see data on home plate umpire efficiency in the postseason vs the regular season. They just look so much more accurate in the postseason.

Between Joe Davis and John Smoltz waffling on for minutes about pitching Ohtani as the closer (“but the Dodgers lose his bat if he gets removed from the game“) and Ken Rosenthal asking Dave Roberts what went into the decision to pitch Glasnow tonight with a potential Game 7 tomorrow, I might go ahead and mute Game 7.

Boy that was a rough way to end it. You can’t get doubled off there. I get trying to increase your chances of scoring if the ball drops. But he didn’t even have to dive for the ball. And if the ball drops, it’s in front of the LFer with a short throw so you’re probably not scoring anyway.

If Yamamota pitches another dominant game and Dodgers win next 2 without Ohtani doing much I could see Yamamota getting it.

I took a flier on Yamamoto at like 15-1 due to this exact reasoning. Ohtani will probably win, but if he doesn’t do much tomorrow, he really only had the one big game and he didn’t have a great start on the mound either.

The Ohtani pitching scenarios in Game 7 are interesting. If they want him to pitch, they basically have to either start him or use him as the closer. If they start him, they can keep him in the game as a DH when they bring a new pitcher in. If they start him as a DH, then bring him in as a reliever, when they take him out, they lose the DH and either lose Ohtani's bat or he has to play in the field.

Sounds like they will start him, which makes sense given the rules

Ohtani already getting special treatment.

Yeah, I mean, this isn't a catcher having to get his gear on. Get your glove and get out there to warm up.

Gave him 3 extra minutes.

The special treatment should be that be even has a career and his interpreter took the fall for him.

Umpire rules expert is basically saying because it’s the World Series just give Ohtani whatever time he wants.
