The TLDR is that MLBTV is probably going to get folded into the ESPN app. You'll have to have the expensive unlimited service to get it and the MLBTV part will cost on top of it.

This part appears to be less than 100% certain.  Wouldn't surprise me at all if it were, but I could also see ESPN using that as a bit of a loss leader considering how many streaming hours it would bring in.

They essentially handle the NHL games without adding an additional fee, for what it's worth.

Would still be a $30 increase for a full season. MLB TV last year was $150. Days there that ESPN’s service is $30 per month.

Hopefully still free with tmobile customers and they don't- shockingly - block/mitigate account sharing.

This is my only immediate concern. I've not paid for MLB.tv in years because of Tmobile

The MLBYV app on my TV isn't very good.  Lots of issues with inaccurate tracking of the innings and score bookmarkers while watching the game, resulting in frequent spoilers of you're not watching the game live.  So watching on a new app might be nice.

Hope they'd keep the ability to switch to the Cubs radio audio feed and also watch minor league games

When was the last time a large business buying an established product made it worse except for every time ever?

It was hot garbage on my Samsung TV but works really well on both a Roku TV and a Roku stick for me, so I think some of the issues are software related with specific brands.

That’s funny because I’ve had the opposite experience. I use the app on my Samsung TV because the app on my Roku didn’t work all that great.

Explain this to me like I’m 5…

MLB.TV will still be a thing. Or won’t be a thing?

The app used to be great on Chromecast but now it has the same issues listed above with the innings and spoilers.

The app on AppleTV doesn't spoil the score, but you can see how long each half inning is, so it's easy to know when it's 1-2-3 vs. when there is traffic on the bases

MLB.tv will still be a thing, but you will likely buy it and watch games through the ESPN app.  Not a lot of details at the moment.
