I think it’s hilarious that there are people upset the Brewers won 🤣🤣. Go Brewers . The Cubs can get another 162 games after the 40 they have left and they still wouldn’t catch them

So this will be the Brewers 14th straight win. Only six weeks ago they were on the start of an 11 game win streak. Crazy.

But honestly if you take away the 14 game winning streak and the 11 game winning streak their recent record pretty mid

Hey the Cubs had more wins than the Brewers in 2020 the COVID year.  Nobody were in the seats to see it but it probably still happened.  If it didn't we have to go back to 2017 as the last time, so there is precedent.

That's another way of saying that an 8 year old child has never seen the Cubs beat the Brewers any season in-person and will probably die before that changes. 🤣

Yeah I have no idea why anyone would be cheering for the Reds in that situation.

Andruw Monasterio lmao. How.

Brewers have broken their franchise record with their 14th straight win today.   Let's end that record on Monday boys!  #goals

Bro, who the horsefeathers is this guy? I feel like I know the Brewers roster and I've never heard of this guy.

Former Cub prospect traded to Nationals for Daniel Murphy back in the day.

Saw this on social media:

Friendly reminder; this was the playoff results from 2017, where the Indians (Guardians) went 102-60 with a 22 game win streak. What the Brewers are doing is impressive, what the Cubs are doing is gut wrenching. But making into the playoffs is what matters, just need to hope this team can get in rhythm at the right time.

At the end of July the Cubs were number 1 in runs/game at 5.28/game. Cubs are now 5th in runs/game, scoring an average of 5/game on the dot. This has coincided with the soft portion of their schedule too while facing right handed scrubs they mashed early on.

Speaking for myself, my hatred of Milwaukee has an edge over rationality. I can’t believe some people were 50/50 on this on Friday though. If the Cubs have to back in to the playoffs they don’t deserve to be seeded anyways.

The Brewers have had SO MANY runs lately off errors it has to be a record!

Meh, maybe so but they're clearly the best team in baseball right now. That said, the world series isn't until October so...yeah

Announcers said the Reds have committed 11 errors against the Brewers this year, more than twice as many as any other team

Better that they’re peaking now than September. We’ve seen this with the 2006 Twins, 2017 Indians, 01/02 Athletics and countless other teams. Of course this doesn’t bode well for the 5 game set this week.

But if they win 90 games are they really backing into the playoffs? Many teams have played in the WS with right around that many games won in the regular season. I know they have struggled for a while, but except for the Brewers, who have played unbelievable well, the Cubs are right in the mix with everyone else in baseball. So are the Brewers the only team that deserves to be in the playoffs? Many teams get in every year that “back in”. And sometimes they end up doing very well. IMO if they get in the deserve the spot. Don’t care how they do it. And with a spot they have a chance. Will they win? Probably not. But if you asked me if I thought the Brewers would win the WS I would say probably not. In fact, pick any team and ask the question and my answer would be probably not. It is very easy for the negative people to come here and suggest the Cubs won’t win. They will most likely be right. 29 fan bases are right every year.

If the cubs finish with 90 wins the Reds won’t catch them. That’s not what I mean by backing in exactly. If they continue to rot in a linear, progressive free fall like an old man in a nursing home then they’re relying on the destiny of other teams and I won’t shed a tear if the Reds or Mets pass them with 86-88 wins.

7 of their final 10 games are against both the Mets and Reds too. They’ll need a cushy lead anyways if they can’t put both teams away.

But they really aren’t in some free fall. They have been between 16 and 20 games over .500 for 2 months now. They haven’t had a 2-8 stretch (or worse) like the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, and even the Phillies have experience. They haven’t played well but still continue to win round 50% of the games. Sure, if they finish 16-24 or something like that, I get your point. Then they would be backing in, if they made it. But, tbh, even then, that doesn’t mean they can do well in the playoffs. I don’t want that to be what happens, nor do I think it will. But if it does and they still get in that does not automatically mean they can’t win.

Cubs aren’t streaky. They have 2 5 game winning streaks and 1 3 game losing streak as season highs. Their highs and lows don’t exactly jump out and while you’re correct that it’s not officially a free fall, if they win 2 or less over their next 6 you can consider applying that term. If the wild card race ever gets tight they’ll have a 4 game set with the Reds and a 3 game set with the Mets to put them away at the end of the season. If they can’t then I’d prefer that they back in but I won’t be devastated because of that 1 time the diamond backs made the World Series with 84 wins.

I honestly don’t think the reds will not be close.  But I can’t really disagree with what you are saying. I just don’t think they will back in. I think they will be fine. And once the playoffs start they can beat anyone in the playoffs. Obviously they can go out quickly too. But for now, my focus is on getting there. And I believe they will be fine.

It's just the bats that are in freefall.  I guess it's nice the SP have been quality because they were a 1st half weakness.

The thing is Boyd/Horton aren't set up to be strong in Sept/Oct, unless the Cubs want to risk injury.  We need other SP to step up and also stay healthy.

As long as we hit and pitch well in Oct that's what matters most.

This team is not built for September with our current rotation. Two of our best 3 SPs need to be monitored. You are right, we need someone to really step up. Assad?
