I’ve got my hopes up for Gore guys. I’m prepared to be disappointed.

Why do I keep seeing these “July at the earliest” comments about Steele’s return? (I know you didn’t say that KCCub, I’m referring to the comment in the tweet you shared). He didn’t have TJS. He said on the broadcast a couple of weeks ago he was doing really well and thought he’d be able to start throwing six months after the surgery. That would be October or November. If he’s throwing by then it seems like he’d be ready way before July.

Are Cabrera and Alcantara higher to you? They are to me. I would rather take a chance at a TOR guy then get a steady MOR pitcher for Cassie. You are not getting Gore or Ryan unless they add several more pieces to Cassie. Do we want that?

Yes on Cabrera and Alcantara.

As for Gore or Ryan....yes.

Yea, I think the optimistic timeline is May. However, this was his second major elbow surgery and if the Cubs land a controlled starter like Gore, etc, they may choose to be more cautious with Steele’s timetable.

I'd do it for Ryan.  And the Cubs definitely have enough ammunition to get him without giving up Caissie.  Wiggins, Ballesteros, Brown, Birdsell, Triantos, Hernandez - the Twins can pick 3 from that list and I think they'd walk away happy, so would the Cubs.

See you want the ace but want to give up scrubs. It doesn’t work that way. 5 minor league guys with limited upside is not going to get them Ryan. Sure, I would agree with you if the Cubs could get Ryan for Long, Gallagher, and 3 other guys who probably will never play in the majors. But if we are being realistic, would you do Cassie, Wiggins and any other prospect the Twins want for Ryan? If not, than stop suggesting they can get a TOR starter. Because with what you are offering, they can’t.

I didn't have Long and Gallagher on my list.  Basically every person I mentioned is a current cubs top 10 prospect.  You think Ballesteros is a scrub?  He will be a good big leaguer and he's near MLB ready.

Ballesteros + Wiggins + Ben Brown and maybe even a 4th piece is a pretty damn competitive offer.

Sorry, I thought it was a comma after Cassie, not a period. So I thought you had all those guys in your list who you wouldn’t trade for Ryan. My bad. Yes, if Cassie was untouchable, the Cubs could still do something for Ryan with 3 top guys. I personally don’t see Cassie as untouchable.

I wouldn't begrudge the Cubs at all if they consider Owen untouchable in a trade, given how he's raking.  He's a massive insurance piece in case Tucker decides to leave.

Heck, if they found a way to plug him into LF next year and keep Tucker, I think this team is set offensively for a while.

I get that. But if he had to go for a front line starter I would be ok trading him too. Even if Tucker left, Alcantara, Ballasteros or Long can fill that spot in the line up. That said, hope they keep Tucker!🤞

The rumor a week or so ago was the Twins wanted 2 top 100 guys for each of Jax or Duran to move them. If that's the case then the ask on Ryan must be absurd.

Would Ryan be 3? Is that absurd? I am not sure it is. Maybe Ryan and Castro? Cassie, Wiggins and Rojas? Can’t blame the twins for asking.

How about Pepiot + Diaz + Fairbanks for Alcantara + Triantos + Brown + Wicks.

What are they going to do with Diaz? He hasn’t played 3rd since 2022.

I think 3 is probably the low end. I'm getting the impression it would be something like Caissie+Wiggins+Brown+Alcantara

That could be why there is no deal.

I am getting on a plane is a few hours and won’t have access until 10:30-11:00 central. I expect things to happen during that time.

I'm sure the Nats want Caissie and Wiggins as the tweet suggests....big price to pay but Gore is a stud so we'll see

Yep... It will cost a lot to get Gore, which is OK.

Good lord if all it took to land Gore was Caissie, Wiggins, and Alcantara, we would have done that already

So who else do you think would have to be added to those 3? Shaw maybe? If so....that's too much.
