Hes played there sparingly in his minor league career, i think he was last utilized there meaningfully a couple seasons ago.

If they want to find room for a player, they will. They played Nick Madrigal at 3B for years which seemed like it would never happen because of his noodle arm, dont think they would be opposed to put Moises at 1B from time to time.

Also hes hitting .325 against lefties in AAA

Right, but just because they played Nick Madrigal during the years when the Cubs weren't projected to be good at 3b to squeeze value out of him doesn't mean they should essentially keep Ballesteros up to be a LHH who hits against LHP exclusively, either. His development at catcher means far more and they're not asking Turner a ton right now. His best place is in Iowa right now, he's not better than Happ, Suzuki, Turner or Busch so he won't start against RHP very often at all.

He had a really good cup of coffee. The Cubs can trust him if an injury to any of the four previously mentioned "better" players get hurt and he can continue to catch and develop in Triple-A. It's win-win.

Yep not disagreeing with any of that, I mentioned in my first comment that i know he needs the consistent at bats. Just sucks to see him sent down.

But i think its a bit of an overreach to say hes not effective against LHP

Yeah, hes not a terrible hitter against LHP. I doubt he's going to necessarily *excel* at it, especially at first. But he's likely capable and in a world where LHH are getting worse against LHP, thats useful.

He doesn’t sound as forced starting conversations with JD as he did in weeks past. He ain’t Curt Gowdy but he’s growing on me.

Cohen is starting to gel with JD in the booth.

He will only gel with JD if he takes 15 days off a month like Boog.

Cohen is awful in the same way Boog is awful. He’s just a Boog Light.

Boog Light sounds less filling.

Never understand why nowadays hitters like pitchers do don't go to minors and hit live pitching for a game or two before returning from IL after 2 weeks

Sometimes they do. But they also have systems like the Trajekt system which can help create game-like hitting situations available. Short IL trips dont need an Iowa stint.

Always the story with the Marlins facing the Cubs the scrubs turn into Aaron Judge.
