It's inevitable that every team has rough stretches through a season.  And maybe we're not even there yet but it sort of feels like the start of one.  Many of the guys starting the season hot look to be struggling and our depth (position player and pitcher) is really being tested.

It’s hard to say really. But what I can say is I quite liked that time when Craig Counsell finally moved Dansby Swanson out of the 5 spot and replaced him in the 5 spot with Justin Turner.

The depth is the biggest problem,  these guys on the bench aren't exactly momentum keepers when they're in the lineup or PH for someone.

I dont remember which analyst said it, but he mentioned that a good bench player is someone a manager can count on to just help keep good momentum going for a lineup when they get an opportunity to start, whether it in the field or at the plate.

Cubs outside of Catchers,  they don't have that guy they can count on consistently on that bench, you're just hoping they don't lose the game in the field or kill rallies when they bat.

PHers have a wRC of 133 this year. In a DH world where you're limited to four bench bats, having a starter level bat (which Turner was, to be fair) isn't something that is a Cubs specific  problem. 

It's the pitching. It was the pitching going into this year, and it's even more the pitching now in a post Steele world. We're second in offensive fWAR and 16th in pitching.
