Wow Michael B was good yesterday. Offense and defense.

He is becoming a good player before our eyes.

But we lost Hope and Ferris……

The Dbacks reshuffle their bullpen, sending several of their lesser guys to AAA or the IL.  AJ Puk also hit the IL though.

Justin Martinez and Jalen Beeks aside their bullpen's now fairly rested, but it's also a lot more uncertain than the group they opened the season with.

Tbh id prefer them call up Long from AAA and just stick him at 3rd. Cant be worse than what they have gotten so far from Shaw/Berti/Brujan/Workman.

He's barely a 3b. What you might gain offensively will be lost defensively. The offense isn't particularly the issue right now.

Justin Martinez' pitch is the next one every team is gonna try to emulate. That thing is naaaasty.

Hes played there a small bit in the minors. The slop the Cubs have put out at third so far havent been strong defensively either

My preference is always to address an issue before it becomes detrimental to the success of the team

I think theyll give Shaw a couple more weeks and then give him another opportunity to stick, if not Hoyer will look to bring someone in via trade.

I don't think it's much of a solution, though. Long is a good hitter in Triple-A, but we should expect him to struggle as almost all rookies do at the start of their MLB career. He's "played" at 3b, but it's akin to saying Matt Shaw is a SS because he played there a bit in the minors. So while he is likely to struggled initially offensively, he'll be bad defensively for sure.

It's the least exciting option, but the current Berti/Workman/Brujan crew is likely the better combination for a few weeks while we wait for the return of Matt Shaw.

Carson Kelly coming off a 2 homer day with a 1.6K+ OPS and an MLB high 1.7 WAR has the day off. For the 14th time.

What Carson Kelly did yesterday has no effects on today. Moving forward, Carson Kelly is likely to be more of the guy he always has been versus this MLB league offensive leader. He's also a catcher, a position the team is looking to rest, and Miguel Amaya has been very good in his own right.

It's a 1a/1b situation. Expect that to continue.

I’m not complaining. I’m pointing out an incredibly unique situation.

I know this. It’s a unique situation and nothing more. I’m waiting for him to remember he’s Carson Kelly and not babe Ruth.
