Week 10 - Patriots (2-7) at Bears (4-4) - Noon on FOX

Posted

I’m sitting here just stunned. I just don’t know where to go from here. The Bears feel farther away from relevancy than they were 2 years ago when they were 3-14. Is any of this salvageable?  Are we ever going to be good?

The Bears the last 12 years have done absolutely nothing to bring any joy to their fanbase outside of 2018 (which ended in the most painful way possible and then quickly proved to be a fluke of a season).  How many more years of our lives have to be pissed away with nothing to be excited about from a football fandom standpoint?

friendly reminder that two of the best coaches in the sport who both played quarterback for the bears (one is from naperville ffs) were available in the last two offseasons and we didn't interview either of them

My brain is so fried right now and I can’t even think of the one other than Harbaugh. Did Sean Payton play QB during the strike? That sounds somewhat familiar.

Obviously the Bears want every excuse possible to retain Eberflus through the end of the season but it’s very possibly they fire him if they lose like 10 in a horsefeathers row

The Bears have young talent on both sides of the ball with a QB that has real talent. This is not 3-14 bad.

I get the impression that Eberflus wants to fire Waldron or at least change playcallers next week from his press conference.

I had forgotten why I checked out of the Bears for like half a decade. The John Fox years were the dénouement. You can only go through so much sad sack losing before you emotionally disconnect. I remember now.

He should fire Waldron, something different has to be tried.  Your OL can't pass protect for anything, there must adjustments, or, at least attempts at adjustments, we don't see any of that from Waldron.

That list should begin and end with Johnson.

Watching the post game press conference on Marquee. Reporters are asking a lot of pointed questions about the coaching and the the confidence they have. Caleb had an opportunity to throw the coaches under the bus; he backed them and said he has all the confidence in the world with his coaches.

He's saying the right things, anyhow.

But then you see reports about him not wanting to come here bc of organizational instability. But cmon we’ve had the same bad owners and coaches for a long time!

Him publicly throwing them under the bus wouldn't serve any propose, just make a bad thing worse.

He knows he’s part of the problem right now too

There's a draft every year. Everyone has young talent

Right, but the Bears haven’t had this much, including at the QB, in a long long time

What can you do?  People throw around "adjustments" like Kramer talking about write-offs.

We tried max protect. No one gets open.

We tried quick hit spread, teams were crashing down on it.

We tried play action, the line couldn't hold up

We tried rollouts, and they didn't work because rollouts suck

We tried playing offense but our rookie qb sucks

I didn’t know about the agent connection and it makes me a little sick to think about.

This is a loser organization that consistently makes loser decisions

Just look at the non-football ops decision they made. They hired a president in Warren after they’ve already bought a piece of land that they could own. Buy he wants to keep them at the same place that they were just trying to leave. I can’t believe that the McCaskeys didn’t know that he was going to lead them back to the lakefront. They have no idea what they’re doing

I dunno if I'd say good at his job, but he ran a competent NFL offense in Seattle.

You don't get to this point without a lot of things going wrong simultaneously. We wish it was as simple as firing some coaches or changing up the playcalling.

Whether through coaching or on his own merits, Williams has turned into a tough-throw-phobic sack machine.

The offensive line is kinda mid if everything stays perfect, but they aren't and it's a disaster, and it's not clear it has many plus pieces going forward.

The WR room has become a black hole for assets and it's still dysfunctional and in need of a rebuild.  The only real long-term piece is Odunze and has he actually shown anything special yet?

Our starting RB is a hole-blind third down back. Our backup rb is a backup rb and that's all he will ever be
