Mahomes is...

23rd in QB Rating
11th in QBR
21st in TD passes
16th in passing ypg
1st in interceptions

Yet he's somehow the MVP favorite. I know he doesn't have the weapons he used to and he's obviously a great QB, but the stats have to matter.

I hope he continues not to try that.  He knows he's going to have more opportunities.  It shouldn't feel "critical" that he maximize the yardage on a run.  It should feel like he's going to come back and make another great play so it's better to not take any kind of risk.

There will be some situations where he has to push it but most of the time it's totally fine to stay out of danger.

In the very same game, Williams did push it on the run to the goal line. Rather than go out, he turned up field and got down to about the 2 yard line. I'm fine with a bit of hard nose where it's warranted, like close to the end zone. Middle of the field with a fresh set of downs already in your pocket is fine for an easy slide.

The Steelers wrs went from widely villified to having a great night this week. So mysterious.

I’ve never said a word about the Steelers receivers before this game. I hadn’t watched any of their games. I watched that game and Wilson was wildly inaccurate and guys made at least three wild catches for big gains on poorly thrown balls.

There were 3 plays in particular that were either just dumb luck or a receiver making an absurd catch. The first was on an underthrown ball to the left sideline. The WR is blanketed, but fights back through the defender making a one armed catch. The 2nd was a ball thrown down the right side line that bounces off the defenders shoulder pad up into the air and then is caught by the wide receiver. The third was a TE over the shoulder catch which was made while diving with quite literally the finger tips. It wasn't an awful throw, but that was an absurd catch and not something that you can expect to be duplicated. Now I'm not going to say Russell was bad, but he was no the guy his stats indicate he was. By that same measure, Rodgers was even worse than his line indicated. Something absurd like 100 of Breece Hall's 103 receiving yards were after the catch.
