The starting lineup, Remlinger in to face a lefty, going with Zambrano way too long, not using Dubois to pinch hit for Wilson or Hollandsworth (versus the lefty)... well I could probably go on but you get the idea

Enrique Wilson got the start at second base tonight against the Yankees and went 0-for-3 with an error.

''Wilson is playing second because he knows this ballpark, he knows this team,'' manager Dusty Baker said. That's good to know, because before seeing the quote, we were just assuming Baker felt sorry for the Yankees. Jun. 17 - 11:35 pm et

Staggering ignorance.

Tom Emanski should make a new videotape entitled "How Not to Manage a Baseball Team." Then when you pop the tape in, it'll say "Watch Dusty Baker" in the intro, and then it will be the replay of tonight's ballgame. What an incompetent fool.

 So Wilson is going to be starting the whole series. Great.

He knows the ballpark?? What the hell is that? What, did he give the team bus driver directions on how to get to the stadium?

If you wanna play the "knows the ballpark" game, Hairston has played at Yankee Stadium plenty of times while in the AL East. I don't think the stadium or team are very unfamilar to him, or Todd Walker for that matter.

That's not fair, Walker did play. He just wasn't in the field. Of course, Wilson's wonderful defense didn't help us out at all.

The Yankees batboys know the ballpark and know the Yankees team, so maybe we should sign a few of them and have them start. Wilson hits like a batboy, so what's the difference?

But they aren't proven veterans. Come on, you should know that much by now.

You need to know the ins and outs of a ballpark to play second base. Duh. You should know this since you played second in HS.

Only one error though...imagine if a mere novice like Hairston or Walker played second base instead!

Let's ignore the fact that those two got quite a few games at 2B in the Bronx while playing in the AL East.

The fact that Dusty started Enrique Wilson makes it obvious that the man is incompetent. I'd love to see someone try and justify starting this guy.

Out of curiosity, just exactly how well did Carlos Beltran know Wrigley Field before he decided to crush the ball every time it crosses the plate there? The Enrique Wilson experiment not only didn't work, but the fact he is still on this team is very disappointing.

Was it my imagination, or did I watch Rothschild go to the mound and instruct Wuertz to 4 pitch walk A-Rod to load the bases to get to Matsui, only so that Dusty could replace Wuertz with Remlinger for the lefty/lefty match up?

When I saw Dusty motion for Remlinger, I got up, started getting dressed, hollered at the wife to put hers on, and right after Remlinger gave up the double, I turned off the tv and took the wife to dinner. I knew it would no longer be worth watching. I knew Remlinger would serve it up on a platter. Not only is Remlinger bad against lefties, Matsui kills lefties. Did Dusty not notice what Matsui did to Ohman just an inning earlier?

Did he wake up this morning and think to himself "Hey, today is a new day, Remlinger will no longer be horrible against lefties", and then imagine that it must be true because he thought of it?

This is one of those games that I hang the loss on the manager. I'm not at all pleased that he feels so comfortable with the Cubs position in the standings that he feels he should play such a huge role in whether the team wins or loses.

Someone fire him now, please!

I wasn't sure which was more mind-boggling: starting Wilson, the reason for starting Wilson, or making the same mistake to Matsui in consecutive innings.

In the game thread last night, after Ohman served it up to Matsui and everyone yelled about how dumb Dusty must be to bring in a loogy for Matsui, I joked about how he should have used Remlinger in that spot instead. I figured it was the only possible way he could have been dumber in that situation, so surely it wouldn't happen.

I wonder how long "It's my gut feelin', dude!" is going to be an acceptable managing philosophy.

It is completely inexcusable to start Enrique Wilson in any game, in any situation. I'm not sure what Jerry Hairston, Jr. did to Baker but he can't seem to find the field recently. At least he got to pinch run yesterday.

Everyone knows that Hairston Jr. is just a big ole base clogger.

I blame Hendry for giving these types of players to Baker. Baker is known for playing all his 25 and if Hendry can't get better quality than Macias and Wilson he deserves what he gets. It's time to get some players that can play.

I really don't think Nomar will be healthy this year. He will play but he will not be healthy. Add to this when Nomar isn't feeling well it will make the Cubs bench that much thinner. I say this because it's obvious that Hendry is waiting for Nomar...at least IMO.

I have always been a big supporter of Hendry but I gotta agree with you. If Hendry hadn't signed Wilson (much less others....), he couldn't have started last night. There is no excuse to start him over two superior 2nd baseman the Cubs also have. No excuse. I feel like doing this to Dusty - :stone: He is so aggravating.

I'm sorry... at times (more often than not, actually) the man is a complete imbecile.
