OK, maybe Neifi bunting in the 9th down 5-3 with runners on first and third and 2 outs wasn't Dusty's idea (although it wouldn't surprised me if it was).

But Neifi Perez...in the line-up...batting 6th?!?

Another new low.

I'm going to put down a preemptive "Bad Managerial Move by Dusty Baker"

If Neifi Perez is in the starting lineup, then Dusty deserves to be fired. (what am I saying, he deserves to be fired anyway  )

I don't care if we don't have another player that can play 3rd base. FIND SOMEONE

The best thing that can happen to this team is the realization that they kind of stink so we might as well shut down Wood and ARAM, start Cedeno, Murton and Fontenot (or whoever at third) and use the last month to really evaluate what needs to be done this offseason.

Never.

Gonna.

Happen.

Hhahaha, you'd be surprised.

THIS THREAD IS ridiculous!! Dusty accordign to many player "off Cubs.com" is a great manager he can't help it if the players are making stupid mistakes. Naturally it came from NP adn Matt Murton who only manager at the major league level has been Dusty.

The apathy must be at an all-time high for this thread to slip to page 8. We know it's not because Dusty is doing a better job.

Here's an example of what really ticks me off about Dusty...last night's lineup.

Batting 2nd Jerry Hairston (.221/.268/.260) and 0 for his last 12.

Batting 8th Ronny Cedano (.286/.306/.379). Cedano is leading the team in BA on a team that can't hit and yet Dusty puts him in the 8th spot?

Not to mention Cedano has the potential to be a contributing part of this organization for a long time. He needs to get as many at-bats in the 2 spot as possible to see if he's a good fit. Hairston (and Neifi) is a stop-gap player who should bat 7th or 8th on the one or two days a week that he is in the lineup.

Also, what's with Ramirez still hitting sixth. I know he's been struggling and if you want to shake things up, put him in the sixth spot for a couple of days to try to get him out of the slump. But if you are using the philosophy that an extended stay in the sixth spot is going to help Ramirez, why wouldn't you move Pierre to the 8th spot for a while?

Dusty's inconsistency/stupidity in managing a lineup is unbelievable. I can't imagine how someone could get to be a major league manager without being to at least put the 9 people on the field in the correct spot in the lineup.

That all being said, Hendry deserves a substantial amount of the blame. The Cubs have about 6 guys (Perez, Hairston, Blanco, Bynum, Pierre...right now, Mabry) that should ideally be hitting in the 7th or 8th spot when they play. Unfortunately, with the roster Hendry put together too many of these guys are in the lineup on a regular basis to even make it possible not to hit at least one of these guys higher in the order.

If we actually made any effort to document each bad managerial move in this thread, Tim would have had to buy more servers a long time ago.

Let's face it, Dusty will be gone before this thread reaches 100 pages,

Only because no one bumped this thread between May and yesterday.

And there were sizable gaps in this thread last season too.

If you add up all of the dumb moves mentioned in all of the game threads as well as new threads that started, my guess is this one would be well over 500.
