Anothe scoreless inning for Sisco against the Rangers today. He gave up a lead-off single and had runners on the corners with one out, but gets out of it unscathed.

I wonder how bad he would haev to collapse to be returned...

His left arm would have to literally fall off.... he's not coming back.

Sisco for all-star --

Discuss.

Does every MLB team need a representative in the ASG?

If so, I'd say Sisco might have an outside chance, but Sweeney would probably be the first guy to go for KC.

honestly, i havent read the whole thread, but I think this is a case of where Sisco is just fooling everyone because he hasnt been exposed yet. No one has ever hit off him. Just wait till the next half of the season or next year. I dont think he will be this good for so long.

....or he could become the next Dontrelle Willis. :D

Bump.

NAME G GS W L Sv Hld IP H ER HR BB SO K/9 P/GS WHIP ERA
Andrew Sisco 53 0 2 2 0 11 60.2 50 17 4 37 63 9.35 0.0 1.43 2.52

I thought this was interesting. I haven't checked on Sisco's stats recently and was wondering if he went in the tank during KC's extended losing streak.

Evidently not. Right now, he boasts the best ERA on the Royals' staff. His WHIP is higher than you'd like to see it, but hopefully his control will continue to improve with age and experience. Regardless, his limitation of hits and excellent K rate offset his BBs.

Someone please forward these numbers to Andy MacPhail to address his theory on building through pitching surpluses. Then again, I think the Cubs did realize $50,000 from the Rule V draft claim, right?

Hooray.

This just proves what an excellent job the Cubs have done in bringing prospects to the major leagues.

It also proves they know how to get a great return on a million dollar investment.

I can already hear MacPhail adding Sisco's name to the all-stars and rookies of the year that came through the cub farm system that he likes to spew in the media so much.

What it proves is that the KC Royals have such a screwed up organization that they would destroy the chances of a talent like Sisco of developing into a #1 or #2 starter. I still don't understand why at midseason they didn't make a deal with the Cubs, trading a middle reliever for the rights to Sisco. KC then could have sent him down and developed him as a starter for the future.

Sisco didn't pitch above A ball as a starter, and this year hiding at the back of the bullpen will cripple his development. I'm betting Hendry got caught flatfooted because he didn't think a team would be so stupid to pull a stunt like this. And Sisco is going to be stuck on a pathetic KC team for years to come, and as a reliever at that! In a year or two I'll bet Sisco is going to envy Rich Hill.

I understand what you're saying and agree with it, but Sisco's still only 22, 3 years younger than your example of Hill.

Johan Santana wasn't exactly crippled by being kept in the pen by the Twins as a rule 5 pick. I think its premature to say that this year in the pen has stunted his development. Given the success he had against major league hitting, one could argue that this experience really helped Andy get closer to his potential.

Good point about Santana, but I still don't think Sisco has the makeup to make the transition to a top-notch starter while in the majors.
