When Hendricks, Taillon, and Assad on the mound,  the bats more then likely will need to score 4 or more runs.

The bats, it uncertain whether they're gonna have those type of games or not.

They are 6 games behind the Braves in the loss column with 30 to play.  Of course hoping for a miracle comeback like any Cub fan would be but almost certainly nothing they are doing today is costing them a playoff spot at this point.

Unfortunately winning 2/3 isn’t enough at this point.  And that might have been the last real opportunity to turn this game around.

The only thing winning 2/3 does is allows them to maintain the illusion they are still in the race.  Realistically, they aren't.

I'll take 7 innings of 5-hit, 3-run ball from a 5th spot in the rotation all year. The offense has got to do better.

That illusion might save Hoyer's job, when realistically he should be fired the second the final out of the season is made.

Wasn't specifically saying this game will cost them.

was saying when Assad, Hendricks,  and Taillon pitches they would likely need to score 4 plus runs in those games and that msy cost them because the bats aren't exactly reliable enough to do that the rest of the way and that may cost them.
