Hendricks running out of chances of getting to 100 wins.. today would’ve gave him a shot. Probably not anymore.

I've been told pitcher wins no longer count?

I just don't get the thinking that we need to keep going to Neris. We only technically have a playoff chance, and every appearance is closer to locking that bum in for next year

Can we pull a 2023 Angels thingy and release, then a contender carry the balance of his $ ?

This needs to be the end for Neris.  They absolutely cannot allow his contract to vest.  Either put him on waivers and release him or bury him in the last bullpen spot.

Craig showing the same unwarranted loyalty to vets as rossy. He's going to keep pitching HECTOR inorder for him to qualify.

You can give up 1 run in 9 innings and lose or give up 7 runs in 5 innings and win.. so win/loss isn’t a great stat, but 100 wins is still a cool milestone.

He really made a case to contenders today that they should pick up his contract /s

But in all seriousness, Neris has massive flaws and shouldnt be the closer, but I'll run out the TT argument that he's actually been really solid lately.  1.17 ERA in his last 16 games before today with a solid FIP and .573 OPS against.  I'd still be completely fine with them putting him on waivers and seeing what happens, but assuming that doesn't happen, he should still have a role on this team.  Just maybe not closer.  Especially when the dude cant stop balking runners home.

I guess? I don't recall even one cub pitchers' lifetime won/loss record.

I wonder why he can't come to a stop with runners on? It seems like such an easy move to deal with. Perhaps before every pitch, have miggy would hold up a little no balk flag

Having seen Neris in person today I’m more open to the idea that he is a menace to society that must be stopped

Really don't care about pitcher wins in general but certainly for a Cubs legend and WS hero like Hendricks it would be really cool to see him hit a nice round 3 digit number of wins.  Don't know how many more chances he'll get so it sucks that he couldn't get #97 today.

Apparently that's only the 3rd balk by Neris this year.  How can that be possible?  I feel like he's done it 5+ times this year.  I guess maybe the 2 times he balked before this were so glaring and damaging given his role that it seems like its happened more than it has.

Neris is the quantum pitcher; he's good when no one's watching, but the moment an observer gets involved, his wave function collapses and he turns into trash.

Career w/l is much more indicative than year to year w/l.
