I think they did (as well as other teams) and they didn't want to give up Walker.

Walker's value has plummeted. He'd be lucky to be a 2nd piece in a trade. He's not sporting a 77 wRC+ in AAA.

Which I think is odd. Walker is continually to struggle to lift the ball. He only has 6 home runs in AAA-Memphis. Which Memphis' ballpark is a home run destined park with the humidity in Tennessee.

I think the Cardinals didn't want to trade for Soto because they didn't want to give up either Carlson or Gorman. Which one player just got traded to Tampa Bay, and the other isn't in the lineup.

Limited damage, but Assad should not see the 4th inning and he should by no means be guaranteed a rotation spot in 2025.

I don't think he's right after the IL stint.  He hasn't been able to locate since he came back and that was a strong suit before he went down.

Wonder who gets sent to the bullpen first between Assad and Hendricks when Wicks and Brown come back

Wicks is likely done. Don't know about Brown. Hendricks will likely stay throughout the season.

How many quality starts does he have?

Busch growing into a 25-30 HR hitter would not suck

He is going to HAVE to if he keeps striking out as much as he has.  I like Busch a lot, and his numbers are good overall, but the strikeouts are concerning.

Ouch. Then I agree very much with you

Frankly his peripherals kind of suck and he relies on some type of outlier ability to strand runners at a consistent 85% rate which is like 10% over what most pitchers do.

Mozeliak's mismanagement of his assets has been a beautiful thing to watch. Their rotation is still reeling from trading Gallen and Alcantara for two years of Ozuna.

I agree that he's probably not totally healthy... but if he's just a 2-3 inning guy out of the pen, that's really valuable to have with a rotation that will likely rely on a young guy or two next year

For sure, but it also means you probably need to go get a starter in FA. You can't rely on all of Steele/Shota/Taillon/Brown/Wicks to stay healthy, especially the later two.
