Euro 2024 and Copa America couldn’t have come at a better time. Can watch the football on the TV and have the Cubs on the background for the next month. Less emotional stress.

Whoa, we have some football fans (Not American football of course)! Real Madrid fan in the house, best team in the world for the next 5 years. Just signed Mbappe and another 2 great signings in the pipeline!!

Lot of soccer fans in the US these days.  I saw something yesterday where the country who purchased the most second-hand tickets for the Euros was the US, even more than Germans.  Not sure who has access to the Other Sports board on this forum these days, but if you look there's an entire Soccer thread there.

Pretty nice when you can start your team with Mbappe, Vini Jr, Bellingham, Modric and Rodrygo.  Would still take Man City, but its close.

Add Alphonso Davies this transfer window & potentially Florián Wirtz next season and call it a decade.

Yeah, the whitesox series was a walk in the park

I had nowhere near the anxiety for those two games as these two.

Are you a Madridista 1908?

Brentford FC! I'm one of the weirdos who when the assignment was "pick a favorite club" I settled on the small boys. They have a history similar to the Cubs: longest record in Europe of losing promotion playoffs, cheap ownership that put forth little into the team for many, many years to finally, after 74 years make it back to the top flight.

With that said, ya'll got to be excited as hell about M'Bappe. Generational talent there.

The credit goes to Florentino Pérez though. He has run a smoothly oiled machine since 2000 with the policy of bringing in the "Galacticos" as the forefront of his dynasty roadmap. Players gravitate to him and respect his approach & humility.

Barca & PSG can't stand us because they tried to create superteams and failed. His fiscal acumen is superb as Mbappe will earn a cool 15M€ per year plus a huge signing bonus. The team has cash to burn with the Bernabeau now the blueprint for a cashcow stadium.

Rumor is BFC is interested in buying Jobe Bellingham so maybe we'll both have Bellingham wunderkids!

I know of the randomness of baseball however, this batted ball nonsense has been ongoing for nearly a month.  At some point it's going to even out.

In describing Neris last night, heard Pat use such words as character, determination and competitiveness translation - this guy horsefeathers sucks so expect the worst.

Incredible how Jude came in as 19-20 year old, worked his buttoffski and is in the running for the 2024 Ballon D'or.

Back to baseball now. 😁😁

You could also include Alfonseca, and Shooter Beck.

I would say Kevin Gregg.  He was the worst.

World Cup in the US (Mexico and Canada) is going to be huge. I still remember USA ‘94 as my first exposure to the sport and loved it, Incredible tournament. Can see Lionel Messi playing in that one now that he’s playing in Miami. Which will of course cause Ronaldo to say horsefeathers it and put off retiring from the national team for the next 2 years lol.

Fair play to anyone who chooses a smaller club as their club of choice. I am one of those pricks who chose Manchester United as my club in the mid 1990’s and now I am tarred with the glory hunter brush for the rest of my life. 😂

I grew up with a host of the friends who are United supporters. Even got to catch a United/Bayern clash at Soldier Field many moons ago in '04 at Soldier Field. Cool experience!

Goal is to head to London sometime (though currently buying a house so...further down the road than originally planned haha) to hopefully catch a Brentford match. Was able to see them on Atlanta last summer but it was preseason. I'd like a proper game.

Ever had the privilege of seeing United?

Never have, unfortunately. Not even when they’ve come to Australia. I do plan on a UK trip someday in the future.

You'd think, but hitting with RISP isn't a repeatable skill and yet the Cubs manage to be bottom 10 in MLB an obscene amount of the time.
