I just don’t see managers in this game making a huge difference. Not saying there’s no drop off between the best and worst managers, but it’s not like offensive or defensive schemes are being developed here. You essentially play what you’re given and that’s more on the front office than any one manager.

He’s missed some easy flies in Phoenix, in Atlanta, and now in Chicago. Not sure if it’s losing the ball in the lights, rain, lack of concentration, fluke plays, or all of the above.

He is a liability for sure, and I am not making any excuses for him. I just feel for the guy.

Jed likely saw this 83 win team and figured that Ross may have been worth -1 or -2 wins last year and Counsell could be worth 1-2 wins. And voila you have an 86 win team
