I know you do. It's just the world of what ifs allow endless unknowable answers. All we can do is accept the universe we live in. Maybe parallel land Wood won 200 games and Ben Brown got a no hitter. They're probably having more fun than us.

For sure!

And Watching that Kid K game was one of the biggest thrills of my Cub-life.

Wood remains a top-3 favorite player of all time for me. I adore that game. It reminds the single best performance I can recall.

3 more K's from Swanson and some really bad looking swings.  But hey, he hit the ball once.

Maybe Vazquez starts tomorrow or Madrigal gets rewarded for his sacrifice bunt and starts at 2B.. 😏😏😏

I noticed on BS that Nico is -3 OAA. Anything to this?

That is accurate. He's a -3 DRS as well.

*With that said* defensive metrics require larger samples in my opinion than any other statistic and are the most prone to "outlier" seasons where a player randomly over or under performs their talent levels. My guess is he will be fine, and those numbers are things to not even be concerned about. Nico is a good defender. They'll normalize.

Geez, saw he started a throwing program 11 days ago.  That’s a long time.

Figure he is back at square one right now. It's probably 2+ weeks of a throwing program ramping him up just to pitch in games. Then a week of simulated games/ACL and then a rehab stint where he probably goes TN, then back to backs (or two of three) at Iowa. That's four weeks minimum there. If not 4.5-5. This is his spring training all over.

It'll be like acquiring a reliever at the deadline 😏😏😏

Certain Rib injuries for a pitcher can take a long time coming back.

We rightfully bitched and moaned about the Cubs being blown away by whomever' pitching.  But, tonight, for a refreshing change, it was the opposition who, for the most part, was blown away by the Cubs pitching.

It was mutual

I'd say Brown >>> Peralta, believe the Brewers didn't have to many competitive at-bats vs. Brown.

Always love when a game that was 1-0 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning ends up 6-3 (with the Cubs winning of course).

Last year when Happ had that double play assist at home to beat the Brewers during 4th of July, the Cubs were coming off a stretch of 7 losses in their previous 8 games.  While they didn't immediately get hot, it did stablize them into more of a .500ish team for another 2 weeks before really hitting the gas and playing themselves into the playoff race.  Hopefully tonight's win can give them a similar boost.
