Weather delay sucks, especially when I have a football game I want to watch 3 hours and 30 minutes after the original start time. Cutting it close.

“Due to budget constraints, the Chicago Cubs can no longer tweet out weather delay updates. So whenever we are in one, look to our opponents on social media for any and all updates. Thank you.”

The rain should be done at the stadium in 15ish minutes, though there's another band that could impact the game by 9:30

Just cancel and play a day night DH tomorrow

Two days of potentially no Cubs baseball over the last three days. It takes God a lot of effort to hate something but there we go.

Not sure why they're doing a doubleheader on the 13th instead of tomorrow, but that's probably a net positive.  Saturday DH after a Monday off day and 48 hours before the all-star break means that adding an extra game in that window probably doesn't hurt with pitcher rest, and the offense can't be in worse shape by that point.

Will Imanaga start tomorrow?

I would say he absolutely will start tomorrow. Better question is will Gray start Sunday.

Yeah that was my thought.  a) It's better for the Cubs that this is in July instead of tomorrow and b) it was probably done that way due to its proximity to the ASB.

That’a a bit weird. Why not just make the most of playing the next two days and just schedule a double header for Sunday?

It actually benefits the Cubs as they wont have to do a bullpen day on Sunday, they'll have Imanaga and Taillon for the weekend games.

Smarter to use him against the better team

But he could have pitched Saturday and still pitched against the Brewers on Thursday. No idea why they would skip him.

Guess just trying to help keep his best arms fresh for September/October by giving them a couple extra days of rest where he can.

That what I was thinking too..

If they held Assad til Monday as planned,  they could of had their 4 best starters going against the Brewers.

The worst of it missed us to the north, but there's still a small but heavy storm system that is supposed to blow through in the vicinity of first pitch.  Don't be surprised if there's a delay, but shouldn't be substantial or jeopardize whether they play today

Who was the poster who was wrong about weather delays likes 90% of the time? This reminded me of him.

Not making fun of you at all. We all know the weather radar is always accurate and things can change even 3-4 hours before a storm is supposed to hit. Just a "remember that old poster" thing.

I wouldn't go that far, but I would caution 2 things:

1. Statcast's numbers are pretty bulletproof for outfielders where it's mainly assessing range, there's a little more grey on the accuracy with infielders

2. If we could look at the accumulation of those negative plays/runs day by day, I believe 80-90% of it came in the first week of the season.  I think Morel's been within a stones through of average since the Dodgers series.  So if we're worried about the team going forward, his horrific play against the Rangers and Rockies probably isn't too meaningful.  It's totally fair to include it looking back and assessing value of course

He was -3 very early.  Then he went to -1.  So he's actually getting worse as he goes along.

Because Vazquez probably can’t hit. Might as well let Madrigal play 3rd if you are going to do that.

Probably is the key word here.  We already know that Madrigal can't hit.  We can assume that Luis probably won't hit.  But we don't know for sure.  Instead of trying the same thing that's failed, why not try something different?  Plus Luis is almost certainly better with the glove at 3B
