Complimented the ump too soon on calling ball 2 correctly, he proceeds to immediately call a worse pitch a strike to end the inning

Pitch 5 to Busch was a bad call and should have been ball three.

However...

Pitch 4 to Busch was a bad call and should have been strike three anyway.

Can't really complain about these grounders finding holes because they're being hit hard - but it would be nice if they found gloves

It feels like these pitcher injuries are becoming more common then ever, even with all this load management

There is a theory that the pitch clock is contributing

You're right. I believe Crane Kenney came out and said Jed pretty much took payroll as high as he could currently go.

Unless they are in it at the trade deadline then they will spend. But Kenney also pointed out that the Cubs missed the playoffs by one game past year and the team that took that spot went to the World Series. So they will risk not making the playoffs and a deep run because they only want to spend more if they are close at the deadline. Why not give your team some margin?

I'll say this Dodgers lineup feels mortal versus LHP.  Still very good, but not the unstoppable force like it is versus RHP.

At least we'll get this guy out before too long. He's snapping off ridiculous pitches in the tough spots

We've had how many strikeouts looking on that pitch that was just called ball 3?

Baloney.
