Because I have the balls to stand behind my bets? Put up or shut up. $1,000 starting balance. First to make it to $10,000 wins the other's remaining balance. We can nominate a 3rd party to referee and make sure we both play fair.

I'm up about a quarter million gambling lifetime, and I don't give a horsefeathers about bragadocious obvious trolls touting their prowess to strangers on the internet. You're a dime a dozen, and you'd probably welch.

But, after thinking things over, I'd be down, with some stipulations. I want the threashold of winning to be 3000, and I'd want the contest to start next Sunday, and we'd both need to put 1k in someone's hands (Brian maybe) to prevent welching. And all screenshot bets get sent to the intermediary.

LMAO!!! NO, you're definitely not. And you don't give a horsefeathers about braggadocios touting on the internet... after you do so in the very first sentence of your post. 🤡

Brian is not an unbiased 3rd party.

if anyone could actually turn 1k into 10k reliably with sports betting, they'd be the richest man in the world in under 10 years.

It takes discipline to win like that. You have to become very good at blocking out the noise and knowing which bets you honestly believe in and which you are trying to talk yourself into. That's probably the hardest thing to get down.

Bored betting will also kill you and it's a habit you absolutely have to break. If I'm going to the Blackhawks game and feel confident Bedard will score that night, that's great, play it. But if I'm going to the game and no bets stand out but I just want to have a little fun and play something, that's where you start to gradually give back your winnings. It can suck sometimes when a night of sports is on and there's absolutely nothing to bet on, but if you want to win consistently you have to give up that kind of thinking.

Oh, but you started it, and I'm not lying. Half of it came from taking second in a millie-maker on Draftkings a few years ago, and I kinda live sweated it on these forums as it happened. The other half is from poker (largely online back during the poker boom) a few other minor wins on DK, some strong results on Underdog's BBM the last two years, bonus whoring the free bets bookies were offering, and betting on dog racing when I was a kid.  It might be closer to 300k now that I think of it. Is that more than you've won?  Because I have an uncle and cousin that makes that look like chump change, as they are pro gamblers.

And to HairyDuck's point, someone that can claim to turn 1k to 10k, swiftly and reliably, wouldn't think my career profit in gambling to be impressive at all.

Isn't there a site that will hold money for free? Can't think of the name but it's used for fantasy football leagues. Maybe use that

Also, Judas, damn I miss the old online poker days. I never won your kind of money but I once got 3rd in a online $10 tournament that paid 5K. Sundays were a blast on PokerStars, Full Tilt etc.

I don't see one that would work after a quick search. Our bet is also a little trickier than just who wins a fantasy league. Who pulls the levers when someone 2x's their money? How is that proven?

Yeah, those were the days. I was largely a limit, cash game specialist, but I played a lot of NL tournaments and sit and goes as well. One afternoon I had an especially bad run, and decided to stop for the day.  I headed up to Boulder to hang with friends, and they wanted to go play a tournament which was a school fundraiser.  First prize was a "water pipe."

We were down to the final table, and I noticed one other kid playing pretty strongly.  I asked if he player a lot online, and he said, "Yeah, had my worst day ever, so I let my friends talk me into playing this thing."  I tell him that's exactly why I'm there as well. He says, "Bet I lost more than you!"  I told him that was unlikely. So we both wrote our losses that day onto a sheet of paper and traded. I wrote 19k.  He wrote 19.5k. We both laughed and laughed and the table looked at us like we were insane.  Good times.

I propose after a set time limit, the remaining money just returns to us.

My guess is he is all talk and never intends on wagering you in a contest. He already started on the excuses of not trusting me or anyone else to be a custodian of the money.

these two dumb asses running head first into each other over gambling brags is the most hilariously on-point thing to happen at nsbb since pretty much anything the bum ever posted. i love it we're so back

consistent poker winnings are a lot more plausible than sports-betting winnings.

It's just IMB's thing to compare me to the lame of the month.  He can hopefully tell the difference, and he's doing it on purpose.

He's right about the bragging part, tho.  After the first page I couldn't help myself.

Either that or IMB is angling to be the intermediary?  Y2J, you shoulda seen how mad this guy got at me when I did some wild horsefeathers like (checks notes) suggest that the most subsidized, extinction-threatening fuel source on the planet (apart from maybe coal) is too cheap, or that it's possible for humans to pathom large distances and time spans.  He'd love for either of us to look like a fool, and since most here know who he is IRL, he's unlikely to steal our money.  What do you say, IMB?!
