I say with confidence,  that unless this season rapidly turns around,  he is 100% gone by season's end. Poles I am a lot more doubtful.

I can’t believe that an NFL ownership group would keep either Poles or Flus after the past 2 years, but then again it’s McCaskey

With regards to Poles, its usually a pretty bad look to fire a FO after just 2 seasons, especially when you approved (I think) a rebuild/tank in year 1, though I guess Warren wasn't around when that was approved and he didn't hire Poles.  Though its hard to imagine they let him hire a second coach after the first one was considered against the grain and turned into a complete trainwreck.

Over.  But Fields won't be outright benched, he'll just get hurt at some point.

How certain are you that they wouldn't go to their backup QB Nathan Peterman in the event of an injury? Like if Fields is hurt and cant play within the first 10 games of the season I could see them going with their veteran (which would be ridiculous but its Eberflus we're talking about).  If its later in the season and the Bears are long since eliminated, I can then see them go to Bagent

Forget about the HC hire, what about his complete disregarding the FA off seasons. Poles doesn’t know how to build a team.

Medium certain.  I wouldn't be drop-dead shocked if they went with Peterson, but I think they'd rather see Bagent.

If the coaching staff had a future here, sure. But since they’ve 100% bagged the season and their careers, why bother looking at a rookie?

He's coaching for his job, it will be Peterman. He doesn't care about the future.

I love the way he chases value with acccumulating draft picks.  I hate the way he uses those picks.  I started worrying the moment he went DB-DB-gadget with his first three picks in his first draft.

9 picks in the top 4 rounds the last two seasons.  3 DB, 2 DT, 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 OT.  Interior offensive line and edge rushers are literally whoever we can pick up off the street in August, but gotta get that second second-round CB in two years.

Do they think Peterman gives them a better chance to win? I thought he was only here for clipboard duties.

He's a known commodity.  That is all Eberflus will care about.

did poles really hire flus though? he was hired like two days after poles was hired and yeah I’m sure it came up during poles interview process but it seems like it was foisted on him

would anyone who grew up in and around the reid/mahomes chiefs be like “yeah gotta get a defensive guy to coach my team and young qb”

I always felt poles went along with flus because there are only so many GM jobs and he was given assurances of getting a chance to get his own qb/hc combo if the fields/eberflus thing didn’t work out

I would think he’s the backup for a reason. The coaching staff believes he is a better bet to play in the event of a Fields injury. It’s possible they just don’t want Bagent to come in during the middle of a game to make his debut. But that’s why I think it would only be Bagent if Fields is hurt after the season is lost (or once Peterman comes in and plays like…well Peterman)

I think the coaches know Bagent gives them a better chance of winning. There’s at least a chance Bagent is good after seeing what he did in the preseason. There’s no chance Peterman is good.

It’s insane that Poles thought he was the best choice for HC. Or even the “hiring” committee thought Poles was the best choice

They have the same agent. Maybe they were buds or something.

Since when has this coaching staff been worried about winning?

There must be some crazy level of incompetence when entering Halas Hall. It seems like veryones brain turns into mush

Maybe they have a radon leak in the building.
