Yes there’s lots of reasons to poke holes at other options. But kind of loses steam when you are arguing for starting a pitcher with an ERA near 10 the last 2.5 months.

The Cubs have generally done a good job identifying pitching over the last few years.  They've crushed it in the BP.  But man, I have no idea why they resigned Smyly to a 2 year contract.

Smyly thought the best move was to walk off the mound after the 2nd out hoping everyone else in the park forgot that it was only the 2nd out
