Can’t lose to the second worst team in baseball in a playoff race. Don’t care if it sometimes happens in baseball.

A couple of terrible at bats by vets this game chasing terrible pitches that would’ve gave them favorable counts to hit with.

One loss to the Royals isn’t the end of the world, it’s more about the continuing trend of offensive struggling. This is a game that the Cubs easily win if the offense is performing even average. These slumps can last all month like they did in May or it could be over tomorrow. That’s part of what makes it frustrating.

fun with arbitrary end points

I pointed that out at the end but guessing you didn’t read all the way or couldn’t help yourself and pointed it out anyways. Let me rant as part of my emotional comedown please lol. Regardless of what date they started on, they are all in the middle of struggling right now. Gomes is the only one my arbitrary starting point might be unfair since he had 2 hits today and might be coming out of it

Bellinger now in a 2 for 15 stretch

our 3 runs were scored on an error and 2 well placed ground balls. That’s the best we could manage hitting against pitchers with ERAs all over 4

Yea this offense seems to only click when Bellinger and Swanson hit, if not it a struggle...

I was out with the kids, what the hell happened? The Cubs aren't exactly getting off on the right foot during this stretch of cupcake matchups.

They forgot how to hit

Yet they still out-hit the Royal and lost, I see.

As a person who watches a ton of AL Central baseball, the Royals are underrated in just how horsefeathers bad they are at baseball. Everyone is so focused on the A's that many haven't noticed KC is just as bad.

Cubs struck out 13 times. Put a few of those in play and who knows.

Wisdom at first base made 2 errors that led to 2 runs. Including right in front of a Witt Jr game winning 2 run shot.

Yep. No reason for Wisdom playing. That is on Ross. madrigal should be at 3rd with Candelario at 1st when a lefty pitches. This loss is on Ross. Even with the offense not hitting they could have won 3-2 if he played they right people. The fact he pinch hit Madrigal for Wisdom with a lefty pitching is proof enough Ross knows Wisdom shouldn’t be playing, yet he played him. Poorly managed and played game.

Anyone know what to make  of the team signing a couple MiLB deal arms the past couple days? Bleier and Uceta. I doubt either are MLB options unless things really go south

No strong convictions, but I'd guess they're just continuing to cycle through arms they have some reason to think could come good with some change(health, pitch mix, opportunity).  Doesn't really cost anything given the open 40 man spots and even in the best case scenario they're not locked on to stay on the 40 man through the winter, so might as well not let that in-season 40 man spot go to waste.

Rangers lose on a 400 foot fly out in left center field. Dumb park.

Supposed to be gaining ground during this stretch not losing it haha

Well its official everyone we wanted to lose tonight won.  There'd be days like this mama said..but she didn't tell me they would involve losing to the Royals.

Wisdom helped cost them the game on defense.  He shouldn't play the infield ever.  I think he's a DH, and maybe a corner OF.  He's strong but his hands aren't quick enough to catch balls in the infield, just like they aren't quick enough to react to good pitches as a hitter.

Madrigal has extremely quick hands, he can catch anything and hit anything no matter how fast the ball is moving.  Reaction speed is the most important tool for a 3B i think, not arm strength.
