On paper, the Mets have worse splits vs. LHP than they do vs. RHP (though they're bad at both)

Mets vs. RHP:

.238/.321/.407/.728 tOPS+ 104

Mets vs. LHP:

.232/.305/.380/.685 tOPS+ 92

We might see a Killian piggyback game today. Smyly then Killian. Pen needs a break.

Yep. I'm worried for a let down series with this being games 14/15/16 in a row and we absolutely used up our pen the last 4 games. Hopefully the boys can power through it and get another series win against a currently trash team.

The good news is the Mets are throwing Carrasco (6.60 ERA in 16 starts) and David Peterson (5.65 ERA in 18 appearances in what appears to be a hybrid reliever/starter role) so they'll have shots to win the next 2 if they don't win tonight.

After this series the Cubs have 3 off days in their next 8 days, so plenty of chances to rest up after this

Wait, wtf.  After the 3 off days in 8 days stretch, it looks like the Cubs play 27 games in 27 days after that.  They do have an off day in that stretch midway through, but then the next day is a doubleheader against the Reds.  What a stupid way to space out off days.

Inter-league play has really made for terrible scheduling.

I saw that and read something about the possibility of them calling up Brown or someone as a spot starter or piggyback.

I think you're right.  I can see Killian going 3+ innings tonight after Smyly gets pulled.  He threw 6 innings on Aug 1, so he's fresh.

You are correct!  At some point, I remember the CBA had no more than 20 consecutive game were to be played.

And technically there aren't in this stretch.  I think its 13 days in a row, followed by an off day and then 14 games in 13 days.

But yeah I think the 20 consecutive games thing is still in there.  I remember the Cubs PA had to agree to play more during the "death march" in Sept 2018.

I missed the 31st!  26 games in 27 days

27 games in 27 days because Sept 1st (the day after their only off day in that stretch) is a doubleheader against the Reds

Phillies postponed their game tonight as there are a wall of thunderstorms heading towards the east coast right now.  Obviously NY is just a short drive from Philly, something to keep an eye on tonight.

Am I the only one who could do without interleague play?
