Frankly I hope he keeps getting opt-outs after one year and this can be MLB's off-season kickoff. Every year we huddle around twitter creepin' on Ohtani's travels to figure out which MLB franchise he signs with this time. Spoiler alert, every year the Dodgers are the favorite and he never picks them.

Hard Knocks can eat their heart out. Sho-Time is here to stay. Coming soon to STARZ.

Ah yes, that time honored early December tradition, Ohtanukkah

Sucks but no one will ever really know the truth outside of Ohtani and his agent.

-Maybe the Cubs were just leverage?

-Maybe he didn’t want to hit/pitch in the cold Mar/Apr months?

-Maybe the Cubs lowballed him

Whatever it is I’m ready to move on and see if Jed can build on last year’s team.

I do think the weather in Chicago is one thing not talked about enough. It can be very rough in April.

I'm fine with Ohtani going to the Blue Jays, but the thing that is mildly annoying is that this was seemingly a winnable negotiation.  If he would have gone to the Dodgers, then we probably assume it was going to be the Dodgers all along for various reasons, but what does Toronto have that Chicago doesn't?

This was something I said days ago. If he picked the Jays that tells me their FO did a better sales pitch than the Cubs. That is disappointing.

He picked Toronto. Do you really think their weather is better? I know they have a dome so at least in games he is fine. But day to day life he will have the same weather as Chicago.

You do know that Toronto plays in a dome right? lol   Yes the weather might suck but his point was playing in cold ass weather kind of sucks and Toronto is an option that allows him to avoid it when at home.

More Japanese players?

Seriously though it's not like he's going to a bad team. He probably pushes them close to a 100 win team.

If I could type on my phone and you read my entire post, you would see I know they play in a dome.

Oh yeah, I’m only talking “in-game”. Hitting in the dome will give him 81 games of completely consistent temperatures. Hitting in Chicago in April, or fighting the wind? Those can be challenges.

I guess that could be a reason. Pretty weak if you ask me. How many players do the Cubs lose because they fear the elements?

I doubt ever.  We're talking what 15 games where the weather if iffy and even in that month of iffy weather there is occasionally really nice weather.  It probably affects like 7-8 games a year depending on what you consider too cold

Bowden saying the same thing, but his track record is spotty too.  Morosi is the only semi legit reporter that has said anything about being in Toronto I think

I think this is the difference when you’re a “superstar” who can literally pick where he wants do go though. You can get extremely specific in what you want.
