Manfred spoke about the 2025 All-Star game location today, and while he mentoned the Cubs are interested, it seems like they are an afterthought and the focus is on Toronto, Baltimore and Atlanta.  The next ASG available to host is 2027.   Jesse Rogers seems to imply that politics is preventing the Cubs from getting the game, specifically not being equipped to deal with the extra security and other measures that are needed when hosting an All-Star game.

Anyone who follows me on twitter has seen this like 5 times in the past few days but man we're due for a freaking game.  The only team with a longer wait is Oakland and they aren't ever getting one.  The Cubs have hosted just 1 All-Star game in the last 60 years, and that game was 33 years ago.  In comparison, Cleveland has hosted the game 4 times over that same timespan.  Heck the entire city of Chicago has only hosted it 3 times since 1963, despite having 2 teams.  Give me the damn game.  The first ASG I am old enough to remember watching was the 1991 game, so I have no memory of the Cubs hosting.

Then again, the last time Wrigley Field held a Home Run Derby, only 5 home runs were scored(At least Sandberg won)

Yeah, but now they use juiced balls and longer rounds.  Plus I'd be willing to bet the wind is not going to be blowing in like it did in 1990.

I desperately want to see balls hitting buildings down Seminary and stuff.   Though I wonder how they'd handle property damage lol.

I don't know what that means, but my assumption is that the Cubs aren't getting ASGs because they haven't bilked taxpayers out of money for a stadium recently, because that seems to be the main qualification for getting one.

They put tons of money into upgrading the stadium and the triangle, etc., so it's not like they're still sitting on the 1987 version of Wrigley

I know, but none of it was bilked from taxpayers (although not for lack of trying)

I mean I kind of get it before the renovation, but since the stadium and the entire neighborhood were renovated, there's no excuse left not to have an ASG at Wrigley.

Yeah the official line is that while the Cubs have been bidding for it since like 2009, the renovation of Wrigley was typically still ongoing until the sportsbook was completed which it was a few weeks ago.  Now that the renovation is 100% done, the Cubs are expecting to be given a game.  Hopefully that happens soon....the 4 teams pushing for it are the teams with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th longest waits between ASG (with longest again being Oakland) and the team that hosted it in 2000 but was awarded a recent game and had it (rightfully) taken away due to politics.

Now that the amenities have caught up to the aura and history, Wrigley shouldn't go more than 15 years or so without an ASG.

Is there a more beautiful sight in baseball than the ivy covered walls and scoreboard?  Maybe Dodger Stadium with the mountains in the background but that's about it.

Coors is pretty picturesque too, and I've always liked PNC

Wrigley is pretty much perfect for the homerun derby. The stadium would be full, the streets outside the bleachers would be littered with people, the rooftops would be full. It would be absolutely electric.

Not for the people with unobstructed views.

Those people should just be happy they're in the building!  The view on TV is sublime.

With the Athletics move to Vegas they will probably get the All Star game before the Cubs

Absolutely.  I won't be surprised to see the All-Star game awarded to Vegas in 2028.  By the time they get around to Wrigley, we're going to be due for renovations again.

Possibly celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the World Series title
