12th Round - Carter Trice, 2B - NC State 

I got nothing on him other than his stats.  Transferred from Old Dominion.  Strikes out a ton.  Was pretty terrible on the Cape last summer in a week and a half worth of games.  Hit for nice power at Old Dominion.

Another OD player.  Looks to be doing fairly well on the Cape this summer.

There's a theme developing that is basically 'middling college results but very good performance in limited time this year on the Cape'.    Bateman, Trice, now Armstrong.

14th Round - Grayson Moore, RHP - Vandy

Strictly a reliever in college.  Another Cape performer who was really good last summer.

BA had Hope at 276 and Trice at 249. 

Hope is a UNC commit. Hopefully he's signable.

There have been years where I felt like the Cubs only had one scout and he only went to games at the CCL. This isn't quite to that extreme, but it ain't far off.

Cubs drafted UCLA lefty Ethan Flanagan in the 17th round. 89-92 FB, good slider and decent change. Lots of injury issues. He's a draft-eligible sophomore.

BA has him ranked 295th.

Can't imagine he signs, given how good he looked as a Freshman and how bad of a year he just had.

18th Round - Brian Kalmer, 1B/3B - Gonzaga

Played at 3 different colleges in his 4 years. Big ISOs his past 2 years to go along with big K rates.

19th Round - Nick Dean, RHP - Maryland

Couldn't find much about him other than he, like so many others in this draft, dealt with injuries.  Supposedly has a really good changeup.  Below average fastball.

20th and final Round - Drew Bowser, 3B - Stanford

Bowser was a top 100 type prospect coming out of HS in 2020.  Big time power.  Big time swing and miss.  Has been solid but hasn't lived up to the hype at Stanford.  Seems like a guy that would bet on himself and his tools to go back to school for one more year.

I found the following two comments most noteworthy.  Particularly the idea that Carico could "maintain the catching position".

20th rounder: 2B/3B Drew Bowser, Stanford

BA had him rated 231.

Was a Day 1 talent out of HS in 2020 (same HS as Giolito, Fried, Flaherty and PCA) but went to Stanford. Lot of swing and miss and plate recognition issues but tons of power.

Thanks for all the notes and research, Rubes.  

I kinda assume that 11th round HS Hope will be signed.  Last couple of drafts, Kantro has drafted a couple of 3rd-day HSers who'd cost overslot, and figure if one didn't take it, somebody else would.  But Hope is the only HS guy taken, and they didn't wait.  

I assume he's the guy they want, and they kinda already knew what they needed to get him.

The Cardinals drafted Cam Johnson in the 20th round.

The Dodgers drafted former Clemson and current Oregon St QB DJ Uiaglalei in the 20th round. He did hit the mid-90s in HS.

PCA and Drew Bowser graduated in the same HS class and are good friends.
