5/15/23 Cobs (Taillon) at Houston (Valdez) 7:10 PM CDT

The trash Cobs go to Houston to continue to get their brains beat in by actual good teams who started slow out of the gate.  Can't wait to see Hosmer leading off tonight for reasons.

Of the 6 Cubs who have faced Valdez, zero have gotten a hit.

Astros are a combined 14/41 or .341 against Taillon with 4 HRs.

I expect all the trends to reverse and the Cubs to win 8-1 tonight.

Adding a reliever to the 40 man so close to when Hendricks (and soon after Heuer) are going to need 40 man spots leads me to think this might be the end of the road for Boxberger, unless someone has gone from zero to extremely injured very quickly

Todays roster moves, including sending Wesneski down:

The 5th starter isn't technically needed again until the finale of the Mets series on the 25th, so I guess they'll punt the 40 man decisions until then.  Hendricks' 30 days on rehab would be about up by then, so that's the cliff for making another 40 man call.

It's Quintana 2.0, except this time the Cubs overpaid in dollars instead of prospects.

For me I hated the Quintana deal from day one then talked myself into the value of competent starting pitching. For taillon i just never got it. Maybe that’ll change

Cardinals are on their way to 7-1 in their last 8 games.  With our luck they'll somehow trade for and extend Ohtani at the deadline.

Them turning around their season the second we showed up on the schedule was among the most predictable things ever. I don't gamble but I should've acted on whatever their division odds were going into that series
