If the scores of the in progress games today hold, the Cubs will be 3-3 in May and the rest of the NL Central will be 1-19.

Well the Reds won so it’s only 2-18.

Wacha no-hitter through 7 for the Padres. He's at 101 pitches so we'll see if they leave him out there.

EDIT: First hitter in the 8th breaks it up.

Liam Hendricks makes his season debut tonight after battling lymphoma in the offseason.  Gave up a couple of runs but good to see him battle his way back.

The Office gif. Steve Carell as Michael Scott claps his hands vigorously as the camera zooms in on his face. He's obviously excited, mouthing "wow," over and over.

Being in Michigan I'll occasionally watch a Tigers game, just don't get their announcers obsession with Baez.  Defensively he still quite good that's not a problem however, offensively he's terrible, certainly, worse than he was a Cub.  I'd be more excited with Riley Greene than Baez.  Maybe, it's the wrong take on my part, he's having a good game tonight, defensive gem in addition to a 3-run  HR so there's reason to gush over him tonight.  Guess I happen hit Baez' good games but, I swear they cream in their pants to Baez.

Angels up 23-0 against the Rockies in the 4th

Every Angel has at least 1 hit and 1 RBI and Ohtani is the only Angel who doesn’t have 2 hits.

Pirates about to lose in extras. This team has swung from 11 over .500 (20-9) to 11 under (41-52)

Meanwhile the Cardinals have gone the other way the last couple months OH WAIT never mind they still suck.

There were 3 games today that finished 11-10 and another that ended 16-13 and none of them went extra innings. Three other teams also scored 10+ runs in a game.

Tracking the other games on a Cubs off day.

-Brewers beat the Reds increasing their lead over the Cubs in the division to 7 games

-But all 5 of the teams that are competing with the Cubs for the 3 Wild Card spots and played today have all lost or are about to lose. Reds lost to Brewers, Giants lost to Tigers, DBacks losing 10-6 to Cardinals in the 9th, Phillies lost to Orioles and Padres are losing to Pittsburgh 8-4. Marlins were idle today

If all holds, I’m not positive but I think the Cubs will be 5.0 games behind both WC2 and WC3, and 5.5 games behind WC1

crazy as it sounds if the Cubs can gain another game this week we’re probably closer to buy than sell…maybe?  I mean 4 games in 2 months isn’t a ton to make up but we’re still talking about a .500ish team that has to jump 3 other teams to be in a playoff position

edit: both the Diamondbacks and Padres completed their losses so pretty much as good of a day as possible for the Cubs playoff chances I think.

So basically the WC looks like this as it relates to the Cubs

WC1: Reds (Cubs 5.5 GB)

WC2/WC3/1st team out: Diamondbacks/Marlins/Giants (Cubs 5.0 GB

2nd team out: Phillies (Cubs 4.5 GB)

3rd team out: Cubs

4th team out: Padres (Cubs 1.0 GA)

Brewers were up 2-1 going into the ninth and then went fielding error, half swing bloop into LF, walk, grounder to third that was thrown wide of home allowing two runs to score.

you just hate to see that.  Means the Cubs can pull to within 2.5 of WC3 with a win tonight (and 3 of the division)
