Miles Mikolas turns 35 in August, and since his first year back from overseas has missed about 30% of available starts and pitched at a 2.5 win pace when he has been healthy.  The Cardinals just extended him for 2/40 for '24-'25 and he is rewarding them by giving up nearly as many runs as he has outs so far.

I'll leave it to the rest of you guys to decide what Week 1 means.  I figure it's today through Saturday 4/8.

Willy just took a 103 mph pitch to his right knee (while catching).  Blue Jays had runners on first and second, both advanced.  Willy had to come out (hope he's relatively OK, I guess) and had to be helped down the dugout steps.

Then Vlad Jr. drove in the runners to give the Jays an 8-7 lead in the 8th.

Edit - Also, I knew they had these guys, but it is still wild to actually watch a Jays game and see kid after kid of guys we grew up watching in the 90s/00s come up to the plate lol

Dylan Cease gave up a lead off single. He’s then struck out 8 of the next 12 batters. The Astros hitters look completely lost at the plate thru 4 innings.

Cease is dealing!

Dylan Cease is an animal. I don’t even care about the resentment about the Cubs trading him anymore, he’s just fun to watch.

Cardinals lost however, I'm a little bit jealous, Jordan Walker only went 1-5 he, nevertheless, looked good.  Maybe his minor league success won't translate to the big leagues, but I doubt it, they have Walker from the 2020 draft while the Cubs have Ed Howard.  I know Howard' recovering from an injury however, he's light years away, if he makes it at all.

We seem to have "Other Game" threads in two different places

Yeah, I suppose that's on me.  Didn't see one in the Game Threads forum, which is where it usually is.

That’s on me.  I didn’t remember which forum to open the “2023 Other Games” thread. Clearly picked wrong. Feel free to merge/delete/whatever as necessary.  The topic, not me!
