God the Sox rebuild is a disaster.  All of that for I believe two wins spread over two ALDS's?  Phillies were on an even worse trajectory until ~August of last year.  And those two tanked before the draft lottery even went into effect.

I think we'll still see small market teams go full scorched earth tank, but I'd guess it's done for mid and large market teams.

1 ALDS win, 1 AL WC win in 2020.  Definitely the cautionary tale for gut rebuilds.  The funny thing is that at least a small part of Hahn deciding to blow it up had to be the Cubs success with our gut rebuild that was peaking in 2016.

Do we root for the Brewers to move to 7-1? Gross.

But also move the Cardinals to 2-6. Not Gross.

or

The Cardinals win? Gross.

Always reminded of Scrubs in these situations

Bryant is currently facing Carl Edwards Jr in Colorado down 1 with 2 on and 2 out.

And he K's.

Lmao I know the Nats aren’t competing this year but Carl is their closer? I wish him nothing but the best but that’s crazy

I think Kyle Finnegan is supposed to be their closer, but he had already been used in the 8th. They went to the 9th leading 7-2.

Their bullpen is really bad.

Miles Mikolas turns 35 in August, and since his first year back from overseas has missed about 30% of available starts and pitched at a 2.5 win pace when he has been healthy.  The Cardinals just extended him for 2/40 for '24-'25 and he is rewarding them by giving up nearly as many runs as he has outs so far.

3 starts for Mikolas, 3 games where he gives up 5+ runs

Yeah, Rays seem to be on pace to tie the record. You can thank me for tuning in at the exact right moment.

Lance Lynn had a no-hitter through 6. Gave up a  homerun on a 0-2 count to Franco to start the 7th, a k, single, double with an error to let Parades advance to third, and walk later is finally pulled.

Bummer comes in and gets a ground ball but it still ends up being a game tying infield single.

And now the Rays are leading.
