The team seems kinda built to just put as many balls in play as possible (and give up the same) and try to win the BABIP war through speed and defense. I’m far from convinced it’s a path to success, but it should make for a really fun brand of baseball to watch.

Iowa's going to have four guys in Correa, Burdick, Sanders, and Jensen who regularly hit 100 MPH. Riley Thompson when he shifts from starting to relief might end up there too. And Jeremiah Estrada, despite being more 96-98, has better stuff than any of them.

I see a batter step up to the plate, my wife asks me a brief question, I answer and look back towards the TV and the count is 3-2. This is wild.

Question: are batters still allowed to call time after the pitch clock goes below 8 seconds?

I Googled this and didn't see a clear answer. Batters are allowed to call time once per plate appearance but it's not specified if it has to be with more than 8 seconds left; I guess that means it doesn't have to be?

Not a routine play by any means, but if Hosmer's not gonna make plays like that to save Wesneski the error Mancini should be the one in the field

Wick's probably always going to be a Jekyl/Hyde sort but here's hoping we get more good outings this year. Maybe the fact that there's multiple dudes at Iowa nipping at his heels will help

Spring training stats don't mean anything for vets with locked in jobs, but a guy competing for a roster spot probably shouldn't have a 27.00 ERA

Has anyone seen any velocity readings with Burdi this spring? It would be awesome if he's fully healthy.

While acknowledging that its stupid to draw much from Spring Training performances, I really hope Edwin Rios becomes a thing. Could really use an extra power bat.
