That was kind of a weird game. I felt like Fields outplayed Hurts. He outrushed him, but Hurts got 3 TDs. He had 2 TD passes to 0 for Hurts, but Hurts also had over 300 yards passing. Despite a career game from AJ Brown and 100+ for Smith, I thought both Jaylon's played pretty well at CB somehow. In good position most of the day (as was Gordon on the deep one to Smith), just some perfect throws beat them.

Though, Fields outplayed Hurts, IMO. I do think he missed some layups. The 4th down throw on the first drive to Pettis was behind him. An NFL caliber WR probably makes that catch, but Fields gotta throw a better ball to these scrubs, especially since it was a 4-yard throw. He also missed a swing pass to Ebner, a screen pass to an outside WR, and the deep rollout to a wide open Kmet which could have been a huge play. The 4th down throw and the miss to Kmet would have led to points. So, he's still leaving points on the board. Hopefully, this won't happen going forward, playing with a professional OL and WRs.

Denver won, thank you very much

Been an awesome weekend in the tank standings

This probably locked up the #2 pick. Houston very well could have won 2 weeks in a row against quality opponents. However, they play an inconsistent but playoff bound Titans and previously mentioned Jax team ending the year against Indy.

Fields' QBR today was a subpar 40.2 which surprises me. Does taking sacks play into that rating? Fumbling but not losing the fumble?

I thought he played a fine game overall. Took 6 sacks but will be interested to see how many of them were on the line and how many on him. No dangerous throws that I can remember though he mostly stuck to short passes today. Had those 2-3 inaccurate short passes which has been a problem for him (but not really as much lately). Still some stuff to clean up but solid performance against an elite D

I'd guess the sacks and don't forget two fumbles. I'm hoping/assuming it's not opponent adjusted, because those things are bad but against the Eagles some of that's just gonna happen.

QBR takes into account the difficulty of the opponent. QBR is incredibly complex and sacks are a huge part as they have a very large negative impact on EPA.

Fine game by Fields and the Bears. Was at the game. Philly fans are scum of the earth and I hope the 9ers curb stomp them in the NFC Championship game

They are total scum, knuckle draggers all. I work with a bunch and no matter how educated they are - they’re all scum.

Don't be so sure about the Titans being a playoff team. They've lost 4 straight and are just 1 game up on the red hot Jags who they play on the road in Week 18. Jags already beat them to start this streak.

Both teams have the Texans. Titans have the Cowboys, Jags have Jets. I'd put my money on the Jags the way the teams are playing right now.

42% chance to lose out per 538s Elo rankings/prediction.

If they were to lose out, they'd have about a 13% chance at the #1 pick.

So about a 5% chance of picking #1.

Top 4 odds look great, as the Bears only have about a 15.5% chance of winning two or more. If they won 1, worst they can do is 4th.

I agree. I'm a casual observer and don't get to watch a Bears game every week. Fields clearly improved from the last time I saw the Bears. He was mostly very impressive. However, he is inaccurate in the short passes that a good high school quarterback could make. It has to be a mental thing. I'm not sure if the receivers are where they are supposed to be or what, but it looks like he picks a spot and throws to the spot instead of where the receiver is positioned.

I don't know about the Eagles, they're very good however, they're not a near invincible super team their 13-1 record suggests. Had the Bears an OL that could pass block for more than a nanosecond and WR's who could actually catch/hold on to the ball they would have won.

The Eagles can definitely be had in the playoffs, wouldn't be shocking if they do not win the NFC Championship. Can't help but think the Eagles have had a gigantic helping of football pixie dust the season - only 13 or 14 games missed to injury, defense going from near the bottom last season to the top this season - that does not happen unless you hit on nearly every offseason move combined with some career years from multiple players. Gives me some hope for the Bears, with some good moves in the offseason they can drastically improve. I don't mean 13-1 after 14 games but, maybe, 8-6, 7-7, 6-8 with marked improvement on both sides of the ball.

Eagles are good but not great. But it's difficult to know for sure because they aren't tested that often due to the weak NFC. If I was laying money I'd put it on them to come out of the NFC but not because I think they're awesome.

Agreed they can be had in the playoffs.

Bears took 0 deep shots yesterday. Based on the combination of bad WRs and an OL that couldn't block the best pass rush in the sport without their best lineman for all but like 4 plays. It's actually amazing Fields had the game that he did and it still could have been better.

Home field advantage would be a big deal. The only real contenders in the NFC are the Vikings, Cowboys and 49ers. Vikings have a terrible defense. Cowboys have inconsistencies all over the place. Niners are starting a 7th round rookie at QB. I'd give the Cowboys the best shot on paper, but Eagles have a chance to beat them twice this coming weekend.

any word on the Jenkins injury or Fields leg injury?

Unless there was some other injury I'm missing, Fields just had cramps and went back into the game.

As for Jenkins, this is all I've seen

ah, I thought he pulled his hamstring or worse, glad it was just cramps

hopefully Jenkins is nothing serious, but it looked scary as hell

Another point Eberflus must address is the lack of calls for Fields, the repeated blows to the head and, in Suh's case, an outright punch to head, are getting out of hand. If I were him, I'd would have gone apeshit crazy on the officials trying to keep my QB safe, including bitching about in the media, fines be damned. I'm guessing they'll be pursuing all the official avenues in trying to get Justin some calls, send the film to the office, getting yet another apology for a missed call, yadda, yadda, yadda. I say screw all that crap it's not working, time to start being very loud and vocal. Edited by gflore34

I thought it was pretty obviously cramps for Fields at the time it happened.

I was listening to the game as I had other things going on, but I heard Fields go down. when that happened, I turned the game off because there wasn't much reason to follow along if Fields was out. I missed him coming back into the game and the Pringle TD. But, long story short, I was confused as to why Eberflus let him back in with a injured leg, didn't see or hear anything about it being cramps until Davids post

I saw the list of QBs they played once and I think they missed a few starters or something else that gave them a much easier schedule. I could be remembering another team.

If Poles can improve the pass blocking and find an NFL caliber WR, I'm certain Fields will be better than Hurts. Just horsefeathering sucks we've got to endure 3 more games of watching Fields try to succeed with this current collection of scrubs, if the tables were turned and Hurts was the Bears QB he'd be nowhere near any of what Fields has done. Can't the Bears just forfeit the remaining schedule? Many of the currently active Bears are going to be ex-Bears on 1/9 there's really no point in continuing.

Funny reading other fans (from other teams) opinions on Fields. They've basically determined that Fields is a RB playing QB and that he sucks at passing and needs to drastically improve to stay in the league. I get it the volume isn't there right now but if you've actually watched Bears games this year you'd understand why the volume isn't there and could clearly see Fields improve as a passer over the past 5-6 weeks. I won't argue that he still has room to improve if he wants to be an elite passer, but I've long since stopped worrying that he's never going to develop into a good QB. He's already a good QB and slowly becoming a elite QB.

Also with regards to passing volume look at his longest runs in each game. Almost all of them are coming from broken passing plays that are forcing him to run. I don't see him necessarily scrambling too soon in many of them either. The Eagles actually did a really nice job at stopping his designed runs yesterday but they got burned when he tried to scramble.

I'm terrified hes going to blow an acl in one of these meaningless games, its why i shut the game off yesterday after his leg cramp, thinking he had something worse

The scars from Rose will never completely heal.

On PSD there are a lot of non-believers who have started to believe in the last few weeks. Many comments on him flashing elite skills and just being in awe of what he's done behind that line with no noteworthy targets.
