That’s a separated shoulder

Even mild separated shoulder injuries are incredibly painful so that would track. Sit Fields through the bye week and let him finish up strong (if he’s recovered) IMO as much as that would pretty much end my fantasy season.

Can't believe they went two designed runs there in that situation. Unfortunate to end it on the pick then.

Sigh.

Fields not being properly supported this year is still such a huge missed opportunity.

Sit him for a couple weeks. Secure the tank and rest him until he's recovered.

On replay, it's clear he was trying to throw it to Mooney behind Montgomery and the routes interfered with each other. Not sure whose fault that is.

Yep. It would have been a huge gain too.

That’s a separated shoulder

I had a grade 3 separated shoulder when I was about 28, flipped my mountain bike on a trail. I lost about 20-25% of the strength in that shoulder, never really gained it back. It hurt like hell, worst injury I'd ever had and I've been hit by a car too. JF is younger then I was, and hopefully if it is a separate shoulder, it's a grade 1 or 2. Those heal a lot faster and I don't think he'd lose much strength.

Just for ref, my clavicle almost popped through my skin. It was horsefeathering narly

The game basically came down to the horrific coaching decision to kick a 56 yard FG with like a minute left in the half to give the Falcons a short field to tie it up.

Also the 14 QB carries in the 1st half is insane. 9 of those were called runs. And as much as Fields has been running, he's only run that much twice in FULL games. Exactly 14 vs NE. And 15 times vs Miami. Both those totals included a kneel down.

He said his legs were shot after last week, so you run him 9 designed times in 1 half against the league's worse pass D? He was cramping all day and you run him the first 2 plays in the 2 minute drive? That's either negligent coaching or actively tanking at the expense of your QB.

To be fair, it would have been a bad throw to Mooney as well. He was crossing and looks like it would have been behind him.

Fields is getting clobbered on drop backs too so I guess the only way to really protect him is sit him out.

At some point they have to close the deal in a few comebacks but I don’t see it this year.

If the Bears don't make a FG as time expires against the Texans, they would currently be in line for the #1 pick.

Right now, it's #3. Plenty of time to catch them. Sitting Fields will help this franchise in several ways.

Conversely, they have outscored the opponent's offense 6 times this year and all of the last 3 games, and one of the 5 they were outscored was due to a 6 yard TD drive because of muffed punt.

Well it would ruin my fantasy chances so.....

Yeah it’s funny. It’s a tank season but there is an alternate reality out there where the Bears are like 6-5 or 7-4 because they didn’t make a bunch of dumb plays to lose the game. But then again they made those dumb plays because they lack talent but you get what I mean. Imagine how different the narrative is if they’re 6-5 with Fields doing what he’s done.

That's what gives me hope. They are losing close games and I believe that's a good sign for future success of young teams who are building.

It should make a huge difference when they are able to field a professional defense and an offense that can execute a simple normal drop back pass.

Drafting 3rd compared to 2nd is huge as far as draft capital and trades. If the Bears do get around 3-4, I stay there and draft Anderson or Carter.

I just don't even understand the rationale behind the two designed runs on the last drive. You need to get into field goal range, time is an issue....and you run QB designed runs? What are you doing?

56 yard FG was as bad.

56 yard FG miss led to a short field for the Falcons with short time on the clock and them scoring a FG in a game that was won by 3.

I would definitely shut Justin down at least for the 2 games leading up to the bye. No use horsefeathering around at this point, especially given all of the circumstances.

Looking at the rest of the schedule, the Bears very well could end up with 3-4 wins.

GB

Det

Look like the only two possible wins and neither is a given

Jets are a possible win, especially if Fields suits up. An offense our D can actually hang with cuz Wilson is terrible.

And there's a slight chance the Vikings are in rest mode week 18.

5 wins wouldn't shock me. They've been in most games this year. Unfortunately they're gonna lose almost every tie breaker for draff positioning, so even if you want to look at the bright side of draft positing it's still basically guaranteed to be worst case scenario.
