Yikes...I havent seen the full grades yet but that is awful. Bears haven't had a sack in 3 weeks apparently

Sanborn had 2 last week. The defensive line hasn't had a sack since Washington, though.

I'm not sure there's a winnable game on the schedule if Fields doesn't play.

Maybe DET if they remember that they're bad.

Yeah my bad, I meant the DL. You know, the group that should be getting a large percentage of the sacks theoretically.

FWIW, the Rapoport report is much more positive re: Fields

I think it would be a ridiculously shortsighted decision to play Fields on Sunday but whatever

Seems like it would be, but I think balance has to be had in these situations that's often lost. Like you can't just hold out your best player if he wants to play and the medical diagnosis says the risk of further damage is limited.

However it may require a different method of play to bring back down the designed runs amd assist the OLine even more.

On replay, it's clear he was trying to throw it to Mooney behind Montgomery and the routes interfered with each other. Not sure whose fault that is.

To be fair, it would have been a bad throw to Mooney as well. He was crossing and looks like it would have been behind him.

Just saw the endzone angle and pretty clear Fields was throwing to Mooney, it was accurate, and Montgomery moved into the throwing lane (and jumped) as Fields is releasing the ball.

And officially it’s a left shoulder dislocation

I’m assuming it’s gotta be a grade 1 or grade 2 to even consider him day to day right?

Could you post a link of it? I'd like to see that play the way you are describing it

This is more of an indictment of the quality within this organization.

If they're playing that gamesmanship nonsense, it won't matter in the outcome of the game. Fields is still hurt and Simien is still bad.

On the plus side, Fields should be able to avoid any hits during practice this week.

Does not appear it would have been behind Mooney, appears it would have hit him closer to in stride than anything, too bad, may have gone for some major yardage.

Yea, that would have been a nice pass to Mooney

Yeah from the angle I have been seeing, it looks like it would have been behind Mooney and that it was a bad throw. You also can't see that Montgomery goes and gets that ball when it's in the air (which is what he should do instinctually). But looks like a really good throw by Justin.

Nothing to do with that play, but I had been pro re-signing Montgomery all year long, but I think you have to let him go. His ypc is really bad, in a season where Herbert is 1 or 2 in that category in the league. The stuff about him not being an outside zone fit seems to have been proven true. The Bears didn't even run much outside zone on Sunday. I could blame the playcalling, but maybe there's a reason for that. Montgomery doesn't have the speed, vision, or quickness to find and hit that cutback lane. And the OL isn't as good at straight up power run blocking (makes since since they are on the smaller side).

I love Monty, but I don't see him coming back at all. Ideally, they'd find 2 RBs this offseason to replace him. Unless they go out and get Saquon or Tony Pollard, I'd like to see a big speed, HR threat RB added along with a short yardage guy. Treston Ebner can hit waivers or be RB4 if they don't want to cut one of their draft picks.

Maybe DET if they remember that they're bad.

Detroit has some semblance of a pass rush. We don't.

In that case, we're toast. I don't know man, maybe we pull a Patriots-type game on one team and win. I'm just watching the Fields drives now, and assuming we don't stop the other team's O. It's pretty much been the case since we traded away Quinn/Roquan. Given that, you're probably right and we lose out.

Well 3-14 would certainly guarantee a top 5 pick, most likely top 3. Top 3 probably means take your pick of the top defensive players - Anderson, Carter, Murphy, etc.
