Bears Week 7 @ Patriots, Monday Night Football 10/24

Bears/Patriots quirk:

This is only the 5th time the Bears have faced the Patriots in New England. The Bears have never beaten the Patriots in New England.

The Bears and Patriots have been in the NFL together since 1970. The first 4 times the teams played (1973, 1979, 1982 and 1985) were all in Chicago. When the Bears played the Patriots in Super Bowl XX, it was the first time they played a Patriots team wearing their home jerseys. They did not end up playing their first game in New England until 1988. After 88, then 97, 06, 14 and now 22.

To compare with another AFC team, the Bears have been the road team against the Raiders 4 times since 2007, though one was in London, and the team relocated in the middle so 2 were in Oakland, 1 London, 1 Las Vegas.

2006- Brady deked Urlacher

2010- Terrible weather, a very good Bears team got destroyed by the Patriots

Oh and 2002 at U of I, The Bears actually almost beat the defending SB champs. I remember that terrible team.

I remember the 88 game, Bears were a good team and I think the Patriots sucked. I was so pissed but remembered the SB massacre was still a not so distant memory.

'88 being the year of the Fog Bowl, the second time Soldier Field hosted the NFC Championship (lost to SF) and of course the title of the forgotten classic Easter '88 by Urge Overkill

the horsefeathers I remember

This is the first game I really haven't thought about at all. Haven't had any nerves about it. No expectations of what I want to see from Fields. Haven't put any thought into what the Bears need to do to win this game. Just no thoughts about. I'm guessing it's more because of the long layoff.

I’ve done the same thing. Only reason I’ve thought about it is the number of Boston fans I know. I’m not “out” on fields or whatever but I’ve lost a lot of the emotion of caring how he looks week to week. Don’t get me wrong I’ll be watching and hoping he does well but it’s not stressing me out before games anymore

Since we don't have an all purpose thread, what does it take to get Kyle Pitts out of Atlanta? The coach has basically completely ignored his existence using him almost solely as a distraction to get others open. He's sitting at 16 catches for 178 this year after putting up 68 catches and 1026 yards as a rookie.

To get others open? They throw like 12 times a game. Drake London is in same situation. Top 10 pick talent, nextgen shows his route running is elite but he gets 2-3 targets a game. Yesterday they were down 21-0 early and it was the optimal scenario for lots of passing but I think Mariota threw 16 times. No one is catching balls in that office.

But your general point stands. Would be cool to get him

Fun fact, Sam Mustipher has started the most consecutive games of any Chicago Bear with 30! That streak comes to an end tonight.

stop tossing the ball

Overall, not an embarrassing start to the game. This kind of mudder game seems to play well to Fields' strengths. And the O-line is holding, so far.
